Yeap, easy enough to drop the sump off and do that work if you want to. Mine has done ~250,000kms so may or may not need doing. I hooned it in my younger days so I need to go over what I have just mentioned. Its been off the road for some years now.

Need to get the car running to make it easier to move around so had to order some new tyres that hold air.

Decided on toyo r888r.

I have Nankang 185/60/13 on mine currently, I wouldn't go any wider as I get a fraction of scrub at full lock.

I'm wanting to put on some nice 15" mesh style which will push to 195/45/15....

It's only on the passenger side at full left lock so it is possible the inner guard could be pushed out a smidge. Rubs on the side of the frame, not the guard. Running original shocks etc so its rubbish as.

...just my two cents worth:
you have probably the rarest combinations that were released and it really would be a shame to depart from this - and decrease the actual value of the car when you eventually sell it.
Having owned three SA GTi's, originality counts. I genuinely thought that I was going to keep my last one indefinitely, but circumstances change and so do the best of resolutions

OK, it's your car [lucky guy] and it's your decision as to what you do with it.

As per my earlier message, good luck with it and I hope that you get as much enjoyment out of it as I did with mine.

All feedback is great, and would love other peoples opinions.

I would love to keep as original as possible and everything so far ive tried. And its pretty much period correct.

I was planning on keeping two tone theme but i don't really want to go through the pain of a professional paint job and the dissapointment of someone doing a s**t job on it on it.

So my plan was to fix the very minor rust around the front windscreen, then 2 pak expoxy primer, so it should make it another 30 years..(ive already painted the whole underneath of the car ) then fix some minor dents and paint it matte black or ive been considering texture raptor paint so it lasts forever

Only over the original black / navy colour..
