Hey guys im relatively new to the gti scene. Not new to the car scene though.

Finally got my hands on a GTI after many years of wanting one.
Ive noticed there isnt a facebook page (that i could find)
Ive created one which im going to (thread starters permission first) post the cruises onto facebook and also anything relevant .
I invite you to join to sell parts and cars and share your love for the swift GTI.

I do understand that this is my first post.
I have been lingering around for quite some time now, close to 2 years but have never made an account. also I am a member of TAMON/team mightyboy but you may not remember me after my mightyboy was flipped i ended up with a Daihatsu mira, anyways back onto what Im posting.

IF i have missed a redline gti page or swift gti page on facebook please let me know and if it is pretty much what i have started im happy to take the page down.

The main reason for this post is also to help start numbers. I have like 8 friends with swift gtis and I would like alot more traffic to make the page more fun. After all facebook is alot easier and more accessible.

I would also like to say that i am NOT trying to replace or steal members from this site i urge you to also stay on here like i will daily.
But its more just for on the go.
If any admin disagrees with this please remove the thread at your discretion and also notify me I wont fight your reason just would like to know why thats all.

After all i want to help build the GTI community.

http://www.facebook.com/groups/GTIOwnersClub/

That is the page please join and add anyone you would like we are also sydney based so most of the cruises we organise will be A. in sydney and B. a few different cars.

Find it hard to believe Facebook is easier and more "accessible" at least here you don't have every f$#kwit and his dog voicing their opinion about why swifts are s**t and their hectic skyline is faster!

Totally agree with you southy
On the voices part which is why I made sure its a group and not a page. Pages get more likes which equals more fu&$wits that's why people who join are subject for approval and if people can't get along the instigators will be removed.
I'm sure I speak for everyone when I said we don't need the crap.

IMHO Facebook apps on phones seem to be the go and forums are a little harder to access
And after having an iPhone I've phased my computer out and barely use it. But each to their own

Ok so I just found some with my phone. My computer never showed them

One thing I notice is that most arnt in English or are closed groups or have no posts

So more or less mine is different and for the Australian GTi scene
With regular posts and ofcourse moderating to make sure hecktic red rexys with 24 carat gold rims done end up on the page

I agree it's easier for me ( or any one with an IPhone ) to use the face book app ...

As I said in the ideas section a redline app would be so amazing for iPhones as people like me who don't have a computer or laptop can't upload pics to here ( I'm pretty sure I speak for all iphoners when I say it sucks not being able to upload pics of ur car to show to others )

Perhaps mods could make a redline gti group on fb as this guy has done

I joined this page and I agree with it being monitored and any troublemakers removed as were all here to get along and enjoy our cars with the S badge

End rant :)

I get the desire for the use of media to communicate and discuss things of interest. I think it is valid point about how useless the iphone is for posting pictures (and not a very good phone either....) . I think the idea of having and using an app to load photos r link to the site would be useful but I question the need for a facebook page.

What can you post on facebook that cant be posted here? I fail to see the need for us to have multiple memberships to various forums/sites for a comunity that is not that big. Redline is very much a southern hemisphere kind of site with mainly Aussies and the Teamswift sister site covers the rest of the world with plenty of crossover between the two (not to mention the UK, Dutch, South American and couple of other non-english sites out there).

I don't see that diluting the community across more locations is an improvement.

I also believe there are plenty who object to the degree of sharing of personal data that occurs with sites such as facebook. I personally minimise my online presence to protect my privacy and identity while allowing me to still participate in the community.

Agree wth Dattman on some of the other new media. I dont want to know what people are doing every minute of every day. We seem to be breeding a new generation of virtual stalkers, just what we need....

Hence my original suggestion of an app

iTunes and android are pretty big hence why every one makes apps for both

The advantage of an app over fb is every one can still use there same accounts and remain anonymous if they so choose

But if your like me and the other 30 something people who have joined the fb page in the last 24 hours then your not really worried about identity

And if you are then simply don't personàlly add people as friends and change your privacy settings so no one can see any way

I think an actual redline page would be better as it would be less confusing ( this page he made doesn't have anything redline affiliated as I think he is worried about copyright blah blah blah) and it can further spread the redline love :)

Custom building an app without the security flaws of tapatalk/touchbb is certainly a possibility, but it would require someone on this forum being a coding genius or someone with cash to burn on development.

No much more to add really. Founding member was convinced his near stock swift beat a gtr in a straight line > was told gtr was playing with him > didn't believe etc etc.

After that every comment and post was gtr related and pretty dam funny!

Every time I tried saying that a stock gtr will run a low 13 second 1/4 and that a highly modified n/a swift will struggle to get a low 14 second 1/4, or to take his car to wsid and run a few passes my posts would get deleted.

You just can't tell some people.

Show's how much people read. he didnt say that he beat one, he merely said he kept up with one.

That being said. someone did read it as i remember some of the comments saying something like 'the gtr driver must of been driving soft'

there was quite a few contributing factors to why the page was closed, mostly contributing to that was the behavior of members.

and i see how bashing on his girlfriend was a highly acceptable move. "hurr hurr, we cant seem to get at him so we'll just call his girlfriend uncalled for names"

That wasn't me being an arsehole, I didn't even get warmed up. Wasn't my fault you couldn't take a joke and had a dummy spit on more than one occasion.
Including when you were bragging in public forum about nearly having a few accidents trying to speed down a certain road you guys were planning on using frequently. Dumb move was pointed out and you had a cry.

And no one started picking on his girlfriend, she called us childish for saying Richard was was being miss leaded by the gtr/gts/lancer with gtr badges. All we did was spam the facebook wall so she could continue to delete stuff seeing as she liked to do that.

The group was pretty much done for as soon as Richard and daniella started getting defensive and deleting posts about it not physically possible for the swift, which has no work done to it apart from a pod filter sucking in hot air and an exhaust to even be close to keeping up with a gtr.

Nothing bad was said to or about Daniella, you you either need to stop smoking what ever you are smoking, or go and get some glasses.

The leader of the group somehow thought that cleaning his stock head back up would give him more horsepower than they drove out of the factory with.

He also is selling his GTi, which has a fully rebuilt engine (new oil, spark plugs and oil filter) with a lazy lifter and FORGED PISTON TOPS

It's "Wanker free", even though he has rattlecanned his rims and cluster Ken Block Green

And +1 to Pauly. We never really ripped on Richard OR Daniella. We just pointed out the faults in his pathetic argument. He maintained that he "kept up" with a GTR, not for 10 metres in first gear (semi believable)... But in 2nd, 3rd, and 4th.

I then said, my car is much much more modified than yours, making 100HP atw; and it doesn't even come CLOSE to my brothers stock R33 GTR. He then tried to say that nobody knew if mine or his swift was faster than the other. This was clear, due to him having forged piston tops and a single mild cam (3 working cylinders)..... And a head clean (Pressure Hosed).

Guy was smoking something chronic, shame he didn't share it around so we could all fall into the realm of delirium.

You never know who you are talking to on the internet if find the ones that post the less seem to have more to say.

The internet has given mindless morons and avenue to regurgitate and link information without thinking or understanding. It has made mondays experts and specialists out of many people with out any practical knowledge.

Don't worry Daniel. I've got a set here bro, more then welcome to use it to clear them nasty defects.
Fyrestorm; I believe those rims you got are Tiny's. Your rims are on Tiny's car. Seeing that you did alot more damage to Tiny's car let alone fixing it according to Tinys mechanic, It is only fair for him to keep the rims and tyres for the damage you've caused.

You sticking up for that twat makes you no better. Be careful champ, vl turbo drifter might start convincing you that your cino can keep up with a GTR too.

My Cino need's about 2,000 parts re-attached to it before that happens. There's a Block, Head, Gearbox, Pas. Side Wheel/suspension/Cv, doors and a boot hatch on it atm.

That's what mainly set me off that group completely to the point where i'm tempted to get rid of everything suzuki i own just so i know its not associated to some of the people From here/FB that act like dicks.

Good to see everyone is still putting s**t on me
Thanks to Lindsay though for atleast standing up for me
Without me having to ask
Maybe because your not a tosser and seen the whole argument

Safe to say that someone is picking my swift up tomorrow just so I don't
Have to drive the same car as most of the fuckwits I've met

And Daniel mate you don't know anything your still totally incorrect
Mr I need to buy cars already built and take it to my local mechanic
Because I have no idea what cams are in it to begin with

Ban me if you want because I'm pretty sure an admin
Hates me.

Couldn't give 2 fucks to be honest

But if you do ban me. Think to your self. Ban the person defending himself
Or the fuckwits above me putting s**t on me

Specially the ones who have no idea on the whole situation
