Hey guys im relatively new to the gti scene. Not new to the car scene though.

Finally got my hands on a GTI after many years of wanting one.
Ive noticed there isnt a facebook page (that i could find)
Ive created one which im going to (thread starters permission first) post the cruises onto facebook and also anything relevant .
I invite you to join to sell parts and cars and share your love for the swift GTI.

I do understand that this is my first post.
I have been lingering around for quite some time now, close to 2 years but have never made an account. also I am a member of TAMON/team mightyboy but you may not remember me after my mightyboy was flipped i ended up with a Daihatsu mira, anyways back onto what Im posting.

IF i have missed a redline gti page or swift gti page on facebook please let me know and if it is pretty much what i have started im happy to take the page down.

The main reason for this post is also to help start numbers. I have like 8 friends with swift gtis and I would like alot more traffic to make the page more fun. After all facebook is alot easier and more accessible.

I would also like to say that i am NOT trying to replace or steal members from this site i urge you to also stay on here like i will daily.
But its more just for on the go.
If any admin disagrees with this please remove the thread at your discretion and also notify me I wont fight your reason just would like to know why thats all.

After all i want to help build the GTI community.

http://www.facebook.com/groups/GTIOwnersClub/

That is the page please join and add anyone you would like we are also sydney based so most of the cruises we organise will be A. in sydney and B. a few different cars.

Find it hard to believe Facebook is easier and more "accessible" at least here you don't have every f$#kwit and his dog voicing their opinion about why swifts are s**t and their hectic skyline is faster!

Totally agree with you southy
On the voices part which is why I made sure its a group and not a page. Pages get more likes which equals more fu&$wits that's why people who join are subject for approval and if people can't get along the instigators will be removed.
I'm sure I speak for everyone when I said we don't need the crap.

IMHO Facebook apps on phones seem to be the go and forums are a little harder to access
And after having an iPhone I've phased my computer out and barely use it. But each to their own

Ok so I just found some with my phone. My computer never showed them

One thing I notice is that most arnt in English or are closed groups or have no posts

So more or less mine is different and for the Australian GTi scene
With regular posts and ofcourse moderating to make sure hecktic red rexys with 24 carat gold rims done end up on the page

I agree it's easier for me ( or any one with an IPhone ) to use the face book app ...

As I said in the ideas section a redline app would be so amazing for iPhones as people like me who don't have a computer or laptop can't upload pics to here ( I'm pretty sure I speak for all iphoners when I say it sucks not being able to upload pics of ur car to show to others )

Perhaps mods could make a redline gti group on fb as this guy has done

I joined this page and I agree with it being monitored and any troublemakers removed as were all here to get along and enjoy our cars with the S badge

End rant :)

It's quite clear there are more than a few members who can't read but do post on this forum, hate to see how bad the spelling and txt speak is going to be if people start posting on this forum using their phones

Space book and my face are for kids and twitter is for twits, although Jeremy Clarkson has finally found a use for it

I get the desire for the use of media to communicate and discuss things of interest. I think it is valid point about how useless the iphone is for posting pictures (and not a very good phone either....) . I think the idea of having and using an app to load photos r link to the site would be useful but I question the need for a facebook page.

What can you post on facebook that cant be posted here? I fail to see the need for us to have multiple memberships to various forums/sites for a comunity that is not that big. Redline is very much a southern hemisphere kind of site with mainly Aussies and the Teamswift sister site covers the rest of the world with plenty of crossover between the two (not to mention the UK, Dutch, South American and couple of other non-english sites out there).

I don't see that diluting the community across more locations is an improvement.

I also believe there are plenty who object to the degree of sharing of personal data that occurs with sites such as facebook. I personally minimise my online presence to protect my privacy and identity while allowing me to still participate in the community.

Agree wth Dattman on some of the other new media. I dont want to know what people are doing every minute of every day. We seem to be breeding a new generation of virtual stalkers, just what we need....

Hence my original suggestion of an app

iTunes and android are pretty big hence why every one makes apps for both

The advantage of an app over fb is every one can still use there same accounts and remain anonymous if they so choose

But if your like me and the other 30 something people who have joined the fb page in the last 24 hours then your not really worried about identity

And if you are then simply don't personàlly add people as friends and change your privacy settings so no one can see any way

I think an actual redline page would be better as it would be less confusing ( this page he made doesn't have anything redline affiliated as I think he is worried about copyright blah blah blah) and it can further spread the redline love :)

Custom building an app without the security flaws of tapatalk/touchbb is certainly a possibility, but it would require someone on this forum being a coding genius or someone with cash to burn on development.

This Facebook page is now removed by the Op. For any other enquires, please send me a message here for the new Suzuki Gti Owners or join the Group yourself. There is a few admins on there like myself are on there frequently and won't have any problems joining.
