G'day,

I'm looking to buy an ignis sport in sydney, i've been looking and haven't found many for sale. I've found 2 at used car dealerships, both in rather sad states with fading paint and various blemishes over the place. I'm looking for something in excellent condition.

Where else should I look?

I have seen some excellent ones but in VIC and I wouldn't buy interstate unless there is no other way.

If you have seen one around for sale or know someone who wants to sell please let me know.

Thanks!

I think you just have to be patient. There aren't many about but the right one will come along.

Yea I know patience is needed, but i work in the city, start at 6am. Buses dont operate that early, no train stations around my place. Right now I'm getting lifts from my brother at 4am in the morning and he aint too pleased about it so I sort of need a car however i dont want to just settle on anything...so I'm in a pinch haha :(

Think you should be willing to travel interstate. Get a redliner in the state to check it out first to make sure the trip is worthwhile.

There was a blue one on here for a while too.. not sure if that sold, but it was pretty clean.

Well I'm willing to travel, but only as last resort.

see how things go. Thanks for the suggestions. I know which blue one you are talking about. If things work out I may go to VIC to get one this weekend.

By the way Sam, can you pm me the link to edit pictures in our galleries? Its been quite a while since I've done it and cant find the link.

Thanks

Hey mate,

If you do end up coming down to Melbourne and $11,900 is in your budget you should definitely have a look at the one for sale at a dealership - search for rego plates TDS737 on Carsales. It has less than 17,000kms and is in seriously immaculate condition, pretty much like new. I took it for a test drive a little while back and it was fantastic, but out of my price range; the dealership were trying to sell it for $16k up until a couple of months ago, but I guess they got sick of it as the price has been decreasing steadily over the past few weeks.

In regard to the blue on in Melbourne (in Southbank), I also had a look at that one and it also seemed to be in very good condition overall. I didn't get a chance to drive it but it sounded like it was running ok, though there was a ticking (noisy lifters?) on startup. May simply be that the car hasn't been driven much recently though.

Can't comment on the two yellow ones in Melb as they were listed recently and I'd already bought mine by then.

Re ones in Sydney, have you had a look at this one? http://www.tradingpost.com.au/Automotiv ... esult=true Looks good from the photos and the sales person claimed that it was in excellent condition on the phone, but I never ended up going to see it as I found one locally in the end that fit the bill.

Anyway, good luck in your search, hope you find one you're happy with.

Hey man, yea Im keen on the red one at the dealership!

If its all good then ill be driving it back.

Regarding the one in sydney, the red one. Its in ordinary condition. Faded paint on bonnet, roof, and plastics. Nicks and bumps. Black spray paint overspray all over the interior. I didnt een bother to test drive it.

There was also one in West Gosford which i looked at on the weekend. Condition was better, but still far from what I wanted. Worse than that, the dealer was a total knob. I asked for a better price, he didnt wanna move a cent and told me to leave if I'm not buying. So I left. Never been to a car dealer and been told to leave. I wasnt happy. what a jerk. But all for the better because if i bought that i would have regretted it.

I think you'll be happy with that red one in Melb. Admittedly I didn't go over it with a fine tooth comb since the price was ludicrous when I went to see it (just wanted to get a test drive before I went to see others) but my mate and I both came away with the impression of a very very tidy car, though this was a couple of months ago.

It pisses me off to hear that that red one in Sydney is in average condition though, since I spent about 15 mins on the phone with the sales person asking questions while they were standing there looking at the car, and all the responses I was getting were "like new" and "perfect". Luckily the guy was a bit of a dick and refused to deal at all, so I didn't get to the point of wasting money on a stateroads check, but still it's pretty dodgy. Nevermind, all's well that ends well.

Let us know how you go with the one in Melb.

And so a red ignis sport that WAS in pristine condition sits in the garage.

On the way back from melbourne I managed to add several hundred paint chips on the plastics!

Maybe they were there and I hadnt looked hard enough but yea, after i gave her a wash, saw some paint chips on the bodykit plastic infront of rear wheels down on the bottom bit. No biggie.

Now just gotta do the paper work 8)

Did a full 8 hour non-stop stint alone from melb to sydney  2 fuel stops, now I'm tired and I have to work at 6 am. Arrr

Loads of those on mine, just have to live with it. At least it's not on the metal.
