Does anybody know how many IS where made and what month they stopped producing them . I know they where all made in 2003, and I have been told only 5000 where made world wide and only 320 where sent to OZ / NZ but there seems to be a lot of different figures out there. :?

I've seen various comments but nothing that sounded as if it was based on much knowledge.

Best info I've seen is on the Ignis Sport drive shaft recall (link below) that implies they made just over 5000 from Aug 03 to Jan 04. But I'm reading between the lines so that may be wrong.

Seems after extensive searching on the net thru many forums and web sites the number 5000 made world wide seems to be the norm with only 309 making it to OZ . One guy I talk to in Japan said he used to work for suzuki' Said the last 4 digits are your build number mines 3736 And he assured me only 5000 where made to comform with the JWRC( junior world rally championship )homoligation rules. but he could be talking BS to . I dont know but Id like to . Any body got got any other ideas . Seems suzuki wont say . :?

I'd go by the number in the recall attached by Pugman
309 in Aust., not sure about ROW but 5,000 to qualify for JWRC homologation sounds about right

Ah yes - and it looks like ours! The 3dr version was the type used at Rally Canberra in 03 and 04.

But having said that the Ignis Sport wasn't homolgation for that. The JRWC Ignis was there before, homolgated on the standard Ignis. Just as the JWRC Swift was there, homologated on the standard Swift, long before the Swift Sport. The modern rules mean the homologation for JWRC and WRC is only very loosely based on the road cars ... which is crap because we don't get the homologation special road cars.

The IS homologation led to the Group N version

thanks for that Pugman
The 5 door was aka Holden Cruise
That was the Ignis model for O/S that we in Aust. didn't get as a Suzuki
I think Suzuki built them in Hungary...

Yep, think so, and also that the 3dr JWRC cars were run from Japan while the 5dr from SuzukiSport Europe
