Apart from the holden being 4wd how much else is different from the ignis.
I beleive the holden has a 1.5 litre engine is this the same as ignis sport?

Ignis Sport is 87kw I believe.

I don't think the Cruise motor is the same, I will read up again. Their 1.5 is slightly dulled down I believe.

The cruise also only comes in a 4 door from what I can find (thus a longer wheel base). It also has different rear window/lights setup, interior is different etc etc etc.. bout time I wrote the 'The Ignis Sport is not a Holden Cruze' article ;)

To answer the original question, the Cruze has a 1.5L DOHC all alloy motor, however it lacks the VVT of the Ignis Sport and therefore comes in at 74kw compared to 87kw.

Getting further into the technical aspects of the Cruze, Like the AWD Cultus/Swift, the "4WD" system is not engaged all the time - it has a viscous coupling that engages the rear wheels only after the fronts have broken traction. (Seems Holden have a thing for pseudo "4WD" vehicles these days *cough*crewman*cough*adventra*cough*shitheaps* )

The Ignis Rally 1600 was actually based on a standard 2 door FWD Ignis. Suzuki produced the AWD Ignis platform for Chevrolet and as part of this agreement a moritorium was signed meaning that Suzuki were not able to utilise the technology or styling themselves. Hense why Holden ended up with the Cruze. (Chevy/Holden = General Motors.)
If you're wondering why the latest Ignis 1600 looks like a Cruze, the only reason I can fathom is that the moritorium has expired and Suzuki are now able to use Cruze components on the Ignis. Either that or another agreement has been made between Chevrolet and Suzuki to badge the Cruze as an Ignis - either way = same result. ;)

This is really strange. It's on the Suzuki website as a Chev... wtf?

http://www.suzuki.co.jp/CRUZE/slimited/index.html

They do look a bit similar. But I think it's only the chassis and the dash that are really the same. Every panel is different, and so is the engine and drivetrain.

IMO: The Ignis sport looks better, goes harder and has better features.
