Hello friends..

I saw much topics in this forum regarding pistons and max bore.. and nobody said a 100% certain info about that..

I really need to know the max bore that i can open a G13B block ( i want increase the max cubic capacity by bore).. Somebody says that is impossible open more than 75mm.. others says that can open up to 78m.. What is the real information? Will be N/A engine, then, i don´t need care about high MEP (medium efetive pressure).. my care is only a minimum thickness to resists cracks..

And about Honda D16 pistons.. does somebody knows if is "plug and play" fit in the G13B engine? Plug and play i mean compression height (deck height face to piston face) and pins diameter . And, if is a floating pin style too.

Sorry for the number of questions.. but i want build a really high rev G13B project and before i buy the pistons, i need to know what is the max bore that i can open the block.

Cheers!

I have run a g13b engine at 77mm but the cylinder liner is very thin(I had about 10 blocks sonic tested to find one block that could be bored to 77mm)even 76mm is not always possible(but generally its ok) ,as some g13b blocks are very poorly cast(i.e. offset bore).Best bet is to get your block sonic tested and then you can decide how big you can go.

D16 pistons are not a direct fit.
You will need to bore to 76mm, get mk1 rods, narrow the little and and rebush to suit the piston, machine gudgeon pin circlip grooves, skim the crown to get an acceptable compression ratio.

You say you want to build a high reving motor. If you aim for around 10k rpm, you will need new cams, valve springs, retainers and really want decent conrods. I would also look at oil squirters.

Put a honda motor in, easier, more reliable.

Thank you very much for the help friends.

About buy a Honda.. i hate this type of answer.. is better don´t answer nothing.
I think is not necessary change whole valvetrain for G13B rev 10.000rpm, because i saw many G13B running 9.000rpm with everything standard..
Then, if you remove some weight from valves (that is easy and cheap), you can gain 1000rpm easy.

About conrods, is not a critical VMP factor.

Cheers,

Matheus

Well you have gotten advice from people who have actually done it and spent the money on engines that you want.

So if you don't want to listen to the answers don't ask the question.

Good luck with your build.

I have had two motors with 77mm. Bore seemed to be ok, but the motor barely made 5000km before they let go. Piston choice was also poor, (not made by me) with CA16 pistons being used. I think with better piston research 77mm would be fine.

Just today I found out about the VW pistons for the Jetta 2011-2016 1.6. From what I can gather standard bore size is 76.5mm, pin diameter 19mm and compression height 29.3mm. I know GTi compression height is 29.1mm. Mahle makes these pistons.

So what dou you guys think? Can it work?

Not sure about dish volume. Maybe it's less than the vitaras 15cc.

Forgot to add, manufacturer part number for these pistons is:
036 107 065 DH.

Dude, this is 10 years old!

Could work, just stick with the Vitara pistons if you are going that oversize.
