Hi Moderators,

How about a PM delivery receipt (sent to the sender) stating time and date that the PM was (opened) received by the recipient?

Currently, outgoing PM's merely sit in our outbox (sometimes for days!) until read... I'm sure some of us would benefit; especially those of us with 'urgent' questions or those requiring so-called 'urgent' responses from other members.

Cheers,

Drew

Turn the pop-up notification for PM on, that solves that problem (it probably is on but your browser is blocking the pop-up).

+1 for a delivery receipt. Gives confidence to the sender that the recipient has in fact received the PM, especially useful in a business transaction.

My 2 cents.

Why not check outbox to see if it has been opened?

If the message moves from 'Outbox' to 'Sent Messages' the message has been read by the the recipient, this provides exactly what you are describing.

i think they want to know what time it was read so they can decide weather or not to hit the recipient with another pm. whats wrong with not wanting to feel ignored?

This!

Would be a good idea, at least we would know when they are checking their pm's when they hide their online status.

Yay! People are understanding my request! =D>

As per my original post, this is exactly what I was asking for!

After thinking about it for a while, it really does not need to be an official 'read receipt' sent out either. A 'received' column the same as the existing 'sent' column under the Sent messages index would suffice. (does that make sense?) 8-[

I am assuming that the time and date that the 'new messages' notification button is clicked is recorded somewhere?

Drew

Not in the DB, and it doesn't guarantee that the message was opened/seen either, it would need to be the timestamp of when the message was opened rather than just a flag for unread/read.

As it requires modification to the main forum code I am going to shy away from it sorry... like most of the other recent ideas :|
