G'day

I heard all the stories about how a GTI motor will not fit in a Carry but recently I saw an advert on Gumtree that was...
Suzuki carry gti swift engine $1,800.00 Negotiable
The listing was...
Hi all up for sale Suzuki carry 2000 model van with a g13b gti swift conversion fitted car was running perfect and driven daily but unfortunately due to a fuel leak car caught fire and burnt some wiring have had it rewired but ecu had a short and needs fixing still turns over but won't start been quoted $100 to fix from moris tech to fix van is very clean for its age has alloy wheels and new CD player.

I have so many questions about how it was done but the listing was gone before I could get any contact details. What a pity. I only retrieved snippets from Google Cache.
It is listed as having aircon so whoever did the conversion did a thorough job.

On Gumtree it was listed as being in Bankstown NSW. If anybody knows who did the conversion, or who owns it now, please let me know.

Regards

Practically, yeah. If the fuel leak didn't kill it, oil starvation would have!

How does the standard motor oil pick-up work in the Carry to avoid oil starvation?

There was a build thread on these (might've been the very same van) years ago, dig through you might find it.
Carry van system works fine, but the divided head layout of gti effects where the oil pools in camshaft areas and drain back.
I'm not an authority on that, but I recall that if you plumb a turbo oil feed off wrong part of gti head you can have..issues..

This!

I have the equivalent model 4x4 ute, and the engine doesn't look anywhere near this tilted. In its standard position I don't see any way that the GTi head would fit without cutting.

shouldnt be a problem if you look at the G13b engine block
it seems drain biased on the exhaust side which this layout
supports therefore would have been a nice conversion to own

OldmanVan how many do you want before your collection is complete!?

China has the G12BB engines as well as used on the Ching version as you know

Hi!!

Way to bump an old thread! Wondering if anyone could shed any light on where this thread got to?

Ive read plenty of posts since buying my Carry but I haven't been able to find any aforementioned links in regards to that build.

I have a 2000 Carry with custom intake, Extractors and exhaust — and possibly access to a gti dohc head.

Did anyone else guess that custom/modified engine mounts to increase the angle of the engine position could allow fitment of the dohc head?

Cheers!
