The almighty hatch everyone whispers about.. has a somewhat bizarre history of Suzuki accessories that were available in Japan.

For those who don't know, I collect Suzuki brochures, and a couple of years back now I got a pile over from Japan. I never really looked to closely at them and was actually waiting on a scanner that was capable of scanning the odd page sizes (they are like a square A4). Anyway, I was looking back through my collection today on my day off for information for a thread on Teamswift.. and I found the Cultus Suzuki genuine accessory brochure (1991 - 1997). I have no memory of actually seeing this before.. and when I flicked through it I was blown away by the randomness of this stuff.

So.. rather than tuck it away again never to be seen, I thought I would scan the weird and interesting out of it as best I could with the A4 scanner I have. Apologies I can't get full pages, and 'stitching' to get a complete page looks horrible. Anyway.. there is enough here to keep many people entertained.. and I am sure some of this stuff hasn't been seen on here before (or posted to the net for that matter).

Start with the cover.. notice anything odd? bonnet comes down to the top of the front bar

A couple of interesting points on the wheels/wheel covers:

The first picture is of the alloy wheels fitted to the LE "70th anniversary edition" of the Sedan in gold/bronze, and the last picture are Barina wheel covers - now with verified Cultus heritage!

I particularly liked the fabric options for the seats, and the Knight Rider-style black wheel covers. 8)

Another point to note, there is a drinks/snacks holder above the passenger impact section in the gauge cluster photo.

Also checkout the steering wheel in that photo, very nice 8)

The patchwork style gearknob cover takes the cake though

I'm going to have a shot in the dark and say these were the Cultus accessories available to the Cultus in Japan, after the AA34S Swift model ceased sale in Australia. Some of these accessories and the layout of the catalogue itself doesn't look very 90's to me.

The part numbers are also different on some of the items compared to the Australian spec accessories list, even though they look identical :-k

I might take a few part numbers from here and see if any of it is still available :D

As mentioned in the original post, it has 1991-1997 on the cover, can check the copyright on it too.

What they didn't show in the brochure is the other side of the key :) It's a button, when pressed, there's a little light bulb that lights up.

Just refering to the bonnet you mentioned Sam, I think it was 93 that they restyled the front end, the lights, bonnet and the top half of the bumper are all different on the 'cultus' models, there are plenty of them at my wrecker, I will change over to that style shortly as I want to make a fibreglass bonnet that also covers where the lights are, it's more aerodynamic than having the silly little honeycomb grill as part of the bumper, check out the uk models as they have this style until 2002???

Was just looking through the UK brochure for the MK2, and these photos make the rear buzz panel make a lot more sense. It is the MK2 lip extension kit with over arch flares (the front of this was sold on eBay recently), there is also a rear section which matches the styling of the buzz panel. What's also interesting is it incorporates the low reverse/fog lights on the rear bar.

Dave (Its U Its Me), you have a new mission
