This started today.. It has been not responding to throttle occasionally but today it has become almost undrivable.. Impossible to cruise at any speed. Unless you are accelerating hard the power just comes on and off and on and off. It's like your foot keeps sliding off the accelerator. Thanks for your thoughts..

Sounds a bit like limp home mode. Only when it happened to me i could not rev past 2 grand without it instantly dropping revs and would repeat unless i drove real slow and kept it under 2 grand. Check your ecu is plugged in correctly and earthed good. Anyway of checking error codes? The stock gti dash has a check engine light. The ecu might have a problem.

Id be inclined to say it could be the Throttle Position Sensor or Air Flow Meter playing up, or a faulty wire.

I would check the Check Engine Light for codes and see if anything shows there first before hunting.

Hhhmmm.. The CEL is 2 wires hanging under the dash with a small bulb hanging off them and nowhere to plug in a mut...I agree with your guess but also thinking about the cold start thing.. PSM is going to give us a hand and he has lots of spares for diaging..Opinions and thought muchly appreciated at this stage..

Cold Start Valve issues do not usually make the car die. As far as I know, they are a wax valve that opens/closes based on temp. If they fail, they are either open or shut normally. If PSM is helping out, I am sure he will get to the bottom of it pretty quickly.

All sorted..Thanks to PSM and a working TPS... It is now running the best it has ever ran since the install... All the parameters were out on the old tps, some of the tracks must have been totally cactus as the ohms, voltages etc were simply not there at all or way out of spec. So now just waiting for the engine to cool enough to repair a leaking top radiator inlet (cracked solder around neck of pipe) and it will be good to go when my son returns from Thredbo on Thursday. He will be soooooo excited that his pride and joy is all fixed.. Thanks again Laurie.. You blood's worth bottling but I guess your still needing it...Coupla pics.

It is pretty much standard 92 Sierra running gear except for a 1ltr transfer case and the gti conversion.. We also have a 98 Sierra with a 1600 Baleno conversion.. with air lockers.. They both go almost anywhere..
