Item Description:
As the title says, I'm looking for a set of shorter final drive gears than my current 4.105 GTI set. At this stage I'm thinking 4.4's to lets say 4.6 to 1 as ideal, let me know what you have got?

Price Range:
Tell me?

Bump

To date not one call or PM regarding a set of gears, are they that uncommon?

Perhaps if you can PM me any leads which I can follow up?

Did you check with the guy from Bulgaria?, $380 euro's brand new is pretty good.

The 4.389 is not really low enough, 4.5 would be better.

Thanks Dattman, I wasnt keen on placing a high dollar order to Europe like that (prefere local)but it might be my only option. I agree with you, 4.5 or 4.6 would be good.
Thanks.

Ha, I didnt either, he decided to keep it too.

I havent had any bites from my WTB post on TS re 4.389's either, I'm a little surprised.

I enquired at my local Suzuki dealer for P/N 27511-60B01 (79 tooth crownwheel) and 24131-60B42 (18 tooth counter shaft) however comes up as invalid so no chance for me to purchase new. As a sanity check, could you please check if the above P/N is the correct one or if it's been revised to a different number etc? I'm guessing its not showing up on the system here because we didnt get the vert and we stopped importing the 3 banger in 94 - 95.

Yes those numbers were correct about 4 years ago when I last enquired, it was Ex-Japan but our dealer had the numbers in the system, was around NZ$600 though.

Edit, just found the email, it was actually 7 years and 9 months ago that I enquired

The 4.38:1 ratio was never available in any Swift that was sold in Australia. I looked into this years ago and pulled many different gearboxes apart and nevr found one.

Try calling for help from our Indian forum members. They were plentiful over there and this was the angle I was going to take but never followed up on it.

Yep, because it was only in late 95 that the 3 cyls models changed from 4.1 to 4.389, still don't see why a suzuki dealer can't put in a special request via Japan though.

The 4.389s usually turn up as soon as you stop looking for one

Thanks SK4WD.

Cheers Datman, late 95, explains why we didnt get them in our final year of the 3 banger (95).

Pictureshowman - Gibbo's set up would be ideal for me except for the dog engagment, kills it for me as my car is road registered and used for daily dutys. The ratio spread would be perfect though!
