GTi Brethren, I want to share with you my journey.

I love the GTi. The GTi was my first car was also my brothers first car and I'll be a GTi enthusiast till the day I die.

This GTi I recently purchased for $500 wasn't in my possession two days before I went along and smashed in Bd14 cams and pushed in a 60mm TB. Goodness me, I've been drooling over the sound =P~, the car sounds so good at idle, you should see my smile.

With the new TB I had to calibrate it and I did so using this guide

However, according to my Air/fuel gauge, the car was now driving lean. "Oh no, what do I do?" I groaned. The car wasn't drivable. I search through my boxes till I found the massive Gallant 440cc injectors. "yes!" I yelled. I jammed those suckers in lighting quick and bingo - I hit stoich. Now as most of you are aware once you do something to an engine another thing comes up and unfortunately the car started detonating. I retarded the ignition timing and I did this as per

My brake pedal stiff, my engine is sick, I'm plagued with poor vacumm. Admittedly, I didn't check the compression before installing the Bd14's I could have done this to have something to compare it too - like a base line. I've set myself a plan, a list. I'm going to replace the brake booster, I'm going to check the intake manifold gasket, replace them injector grommets and time the cam shafts advancing the exhaust hoping it reduces the overlap - wish me luck.

To band-aide these infested rock hard brakes I fit new Bendix Heavy Duty brake pads and slap on a pair of slotted rotors - of course I did. Brethren, let me tell you doing this is not fixing the brakes. If at all the difference in braking is only minimal and maybe even none at all. I just had this stuff laying around so on they go.

The car has all the clips and nuts, all the plastics and the car was stock standard. I'm delighted to have another GTi, I'm having so much fun.

Next to go on will be a DMW Fuel rail, a FPReg and VL turbo fuel pump. Unless I'm told otherwise I'm to setting the FPReg to 43psi and see how it goes. Cam gears are on the way from China and if gtaye doesn't get back to me in time I'll plug in a LT8s and shoot off into the wild blue yonder.

Coolant, engine oil, filter, plugs and gearbox oil was changed prior to doing any modifications.
