Wow an original! Even got the original hubcaps! I know someone who was hunting for those on here...... if you wanna sell them.

Hit me up if you need help with Mk1 parts, I have some and see some over the ditch from time to time.

Finally took delivery of the mk1 today. Sadly between me paying the owner for it and receiving it from transport company someone damaged it :(

They have gouged and buckled the hatch. .....so disappointed

Dent on the hatch lip and both side buckled.

No damage in pics i was sent by owner, and he is swearing it wasnt there when car left hes, so now transport company looking in to if damage was there or not. Apparently they take pics.

Not a great start to the project but will be interesting to see who owns up.

Yeah its pretty s**t for it to turn up like this, but either way its fixable its only a hatch.

The car is tidy for its age but far but from mint, but it is all original and like 99.5% complete, and bugger all rust so its not all disappointment. But someone is bullshitting on the damage

Some did have air conditioning from factory (mine does not).

R33 front strut braces fit, urethane bushes are a great upgrade, replace the battery with a lithium one or supercapacitors for some good weight reduction.

Check under the front floor mats around the rear engine mount for any signs of cracking and along the top of the subframe and chassis rails.

Thanks mate ill have a look at those areas...fingers crossed they ok. Otherwise ill add to the list.

Where did you purchase the bushes from?

Took the fuel tank out today to replace the fuel pump, current plan is to get it to running, then replace fuel filter, waterpump, radiator, all hoses, timing belt, tensioner, rocker gasket, plugs and leads, belts, main and rod bearings and pending a comp test rings and head gasket, then clutch if it drives ok.

Then move on to brakes and suspension

If it has not been driven hard, then they should be ok.

I got the bushes from Craig at SPR. Might be able to find part numbers for you as I got some extra that was not for my car. Also, there is a guy this side of the ditch that has some new lower control arms if you need any.

If you are doing main and rod bearings, might as well do the rings and head gasket?

Doesn't look to be driven hard, but you can never tell, has stock exhaust and intake so not a hoon car. And 155 tyres :) but you never know. Be better to check and fix brace now then let it go if they are cracked.

As for piston rings h/ gasket i havnt even started it yet so i might not bother, but ill comp test first and see what motor looks like with rocker cover off. Only reason i was going to do the bottom end as i "think" "seem to remember " they can be done easily by just dropping the sump so i was thinking just doing it basically as i need to do the oil anyway, and sump reseal is always worth doing.
