So it's been a while since I posted but here we go...

After almost a year Dailying a 1994 Corolla (Sprinter) which used more oil than a 2 stroke and nearly as much water it came time to replace it with something better. Witha modest budget I was hoping I could possibly get my hands on a Mk3 GTi as there have beena few popping up for sale of late down here in Tassie. But as I went searching I cam across this...

A 2009 Swift Sport. 2 owners, 237,000km's and a minor scrape up the drivers side but otherwise it's in pretty good nick and for the $ I paid I'm not complaining at all.

Long term I only have a few plans for it, fix the damage as I am able but no mad rush as it shouldn't cause too many hassles. Other than that just add a few personal touches like these...

nice upgrade!

This could be the shortest "In The Build" thread, do you think? I want to see that other beast of yours get finished!

Yes it will be a fairly short in the build but I wanted to post it up anyway as it will have bits and pieces done along the way as things wear out ;)

As for the other build... well... short of a miracle it won't happen soon. I wish it could but alas I am only mortal and have a family to feed.

And a life sentence block!

I know how it is, minus the family and life sentence block, but throw in a full-time job and 2 businesses instead.

Nice one Taz, now you have an epic and a low key thread. Good to see you’ve given another swift a new home. =D>
BTW where did you get the mirror stickers, I need a pair of those.

Thanks Dave, always happy to give another sporty swift a good home if I can.

The stickers are direct from the Mighty Car Mods Website and don't cost the earth. I had the spare as I already have a similar set on the Mk3 that were there when I bought the car!

I have quite the stash of stickers so the only thing was working out which one/s I should fit up :)

Having been driving this little bus now for more than six months and loving it - having clocked over 10,000km's already without missing a beat, the inevitable happened (when travelling on Tassie roads at night) and the front bar had a few arguments with wildlife and needed some TLC...

While most of the damage was actually done (and kind of repaired) before I got the car, hitting most wildlife meant it was looking pretty shabby. Having already purchased replacement foglights and surrounds from Moylee19 a while back I was glad I hadn't already fitted them!

Getting onto things with my 12yo son to help out and learn a few things we got the offending borken parts removed, race tapped the crack in the front bar (the paint is too faded to be worth fitting another front bar) and then we painted up some spare "dress" mesh I had laying about from a car I wrecked years ago to fill the missing section it had when I bought it...

Then to cap it off my 5yo daughter wanted to help too so I got her to fit these for me (which I dutifully tightened myself afterwards)

The pictures don't totally do justice to how much better she looks but (especially at a distance) it looks considerably better... and with the addition of 2 new tyres she will be ready for a casual track session at Symmon's Plains on Monday afternoon :)
