Time to start a new, and to start with, fairly low key build thread.

Last Friday I took the little bugger in for its 30,000k service, and I figured it was time to put something up here just to make a start.
I have some fairly wild ideas for RuZuki but it is going to be interesting navigating what I want to do against what the contract I obtained the car will allow. The two main ones, I can’t race the car (until the contract expires. ) or make any modifications that void the warranty. Given that I’ve had the car five months and done 30K k’s the factory warranty won’t be with me for long and the extended warranty I purchased was cancelled and refunded when the insurance company heard how many k’s the car was doing. I am also curious to see who else makes mods and what they are before I go crazy on mine.

So far I have made some small mods since I received the car on 18/1/18, I made some leather covered inserts for the center console, a coat hook for my work shirt, (not pictured today) some connections for the four point harness (that needs extra thought to get to operate as desired, also not pictured) and a dash mat that I purchased from the service department on Friday. All very high tech performance based items that will do a lot to make me go faster, which is what I need given I just got my first speeding fine in it last Monday in the mail. #-o

Thanks to Swift RS 2 for supplying me with more stickers, only put on two so far, no point rushing into these things.

I have also added a photo of the gold Simmons OS series rims I am seriously contemplating getting next, but the light bar to help me see better late at night on regional roads will probably come first.

Let’s move on to the pics....

Is this a contract with an insurance company, finance company etc??? Curious, as it is not something I have heard of before. (in NZ anyway. PM if too public to share)

When does the factory warranty expire? Time or kms based?

Anything that "voids factory warranty" basically includes anything that might involve a tool to add/fix/remove, so unless you really expect something to break and actually might have a claim on the warranty, go for gold.

You can "race", just not on the track :D

Will be great to see some awesome mods on the new Swift as they do look seriously cool and to tweak them some more could potentially unlock a bigger fun factor!

30,000kms in 5 months, are you ever home?? I have done 45/yr in the work vehicle, plus private cars, taxis, rental cars etc and thought that was a lot of driving, but we do not have the massive distances like Aus does.

Hey Howsie,
Not sure exactly, I have leased it with the option to buy it as part of a salary packaging arrangement through work, I just remember reading both things in the documents they sent me when I signed the authority to order it. I’m thinking more likely to be insurance related condition but I could be wrong on that.

The factory warranty is 3 years or 100,000k from memory, I have been informed by the service department that if the car is regularly serviced by Suzuki approved service department as per the schedule then the warranty is extended by Suzuki to 5 years. Since there was no mention of K’s that could be a moot point for my situation, and if I was feeling cynical it would be to their advantage to say that. I haven’t looked further into it since my car is going to be sitting in the “cab kilometres” category real quick.

I live 138km from where I work and travel each way on average 11 days a fortnight. I have plans to either move closer to work (Brisbane) or get a transfer back on the Gold Coast by the end of the year depending on which option feels better closer to time.

I finally got my finger out and put the front decal on the weekend before last after getting the 40,000k service done that Friday. It took a little fiddling because the compound curve of the glass and roofline meant I needed to cut and stick each letter individually. It looked better than I thought.

However, last Monday on the way to work a truck flicked a stone onto the glass and from tiny chips do big cracks grow. I got to watch it get longer over the next 100k’s while I drove to Brisbane. A couple of phone calls later and a new genuine item was ordered and will be installed this Thursday. Lucky I ordered spares from SwiftRS2 so I can put another one on this weekend.

Then Friday on the way in a Wallaby ran out in front of the car and fortunately I only travel down our street @ 50k’s so the damage was minor, if you walked past and didn’t know you wouldnt spot it. There is a hole in the cowling plastic so off tomorrow for a quote to get it fixed. There goes my no claim bonus but at least it will be all back to original condition when it’s done. Can’t use cruise control either the radar sensor is out of whack so have to resist the urge to push down on the throttle to keep my license.
