Thanks again guys... I had a spare hour yesterday so I got in and cleaned out all the parts I had stored in the car for the move to sort out what I had in there and prep it for a good vacuum.

While I was at it I decided to fit up a part I'd been sitting on almost a year and keen to see fitted. It's definitely +20Hp But I'll let you guys decide...

The light in the shed wasn't perfect for the after shots but I think you get the idea. Anyway I'm a fan... I have a few more goodies like this and other cosmetics that I'll add along the way seeing as I have them and it's something to do on it without spending $

 It if was running well enough to not make a mess on the dyno I would for sure  but alas no luck there. One difference to mine over yours is mine is actually carbon fibre and not vinyl, so it will add a few more HP that your mods :P

For sure! I do know of a set of wing mirrors for sale if you're that keen :P I've got a fair few Carbon bits on and to be fitted as I like the look against the white without it going full "panda" one of these days I'll get it all together enough to trailer to some of the car shows I keep getting asked to and see what the rest of the world thinks of how she looks.

While not a massive update, having noticed in the last week sometime this build has now hit 100,000 views I figured someone is keen to hear something. :P

I've been busying working away in the back ground trying to offload any GTi parts I've stashed away and either hadn't been able to sell previously or decided I now don't need them in an effort to raise some much needed funds for this.

in doing so I managed to stumble across this little nugget...

This wasn't in my stash of GTi parts but it will be soon! :D Having been in the GTi game as long as I have now it was offered to me by a long time GTi lover who I've traded parts with for a long time now.

I'm super stoked to get it, though not sure if I'll use it, store it or just find a new home for it. Hard to know really. But it'll be on it's way soon enough.

Other than that I've organised for a mate to help me with the small job of installing the sound gear I've been sitting on forever and a day this week so keep your eyes peeled for pics of that.

now to find a way to build my bank account as fast as this thread gets "viewed"

So some more progress over the last couple of days. My stereo is now complete :D

For the stereo buffs this system isn't huge but it is everything Iwant it to be, which is the theme of my whole build - making my ultimate GTi.

With the help of a mate who knows more than I do woth these things we successfully installed the AMP, 6x9's and under seat sub. With the amp.under the drivers seat and sub under the passengers.

The sound quality is great, the small sub rounds things out nicely so I can have some oomf to the base if needed or backed off for more vocal styles, metal etc (I have an eclectic spread of music)...

Anyway the pics I took aren't much thanks to bad light so I will add some later. But the good thing is it is another smaller job done.

A couple of average pics for people interested. The under seat sub fits neatly under the seat, as it suggests, with plenty of clearance for the rails etc as does the amp. the only time either are visible to the outside is when the seats are fully forward for entry to the rear of the car, but neither sticks out enough to be trodden on etc. So I'm really pleased.

The sun coming in was terrible for these shots but they will have to do as the seats are all back in and not coming back out if I have anything to do with it.

I wanted one of those subs to round out my sound install in another car, except mine was going under the drivers seat! Still have not done it...

Keep going mate, every little thing adds up on a project like this.

Thanks mate, I'm a fan of the sub. Gives a good amount of bass when needed without taking up loads of space or drowning out the rest of the system :)

Speaking of which I had the system running last night while I set about getting another task off of the list of jobs that I can do without cash :)

I had a spare hour or so, so I headed out to see about getting the intercooler water spray setup I had intended to use actually plumbed in and running.

The plan was to take the hose for the rear washer which, along with the roof top aerial and boot lock, have been deleted on my car. and run that to the intercooler using a spare hose splitter for the front washers and some garden sprinkler jets to spray the cooler and the radiator as well.

After some stuffing about to find all of the parts that had been stored in all kinds of boxes etc after moving house I had everything I needed bar the splitter. Thankfully, and much to my son's amusement, our paddock basher had one it didn't need anymore so I pinched that and we were cooking.

I had everything hooked up very quickly as the water line to the rear of the car (in the passenger wheel arch) has a connector before it disappears into the body. So i popped that off and ran it into the engine bay where the front hose travels, then past the radiator along the top radiator support.

I installed the splitter in front of the radiator with a short hose to give good coverage of the radiator, and it will give a little water to the rear of the cooler also. Then I ran the main line down the central support, under the chassis rail and then back up in front of the cooler, slipping the hose neatly through the mesh on the cooler at the middle.

With it all hooked up I had my son fire up the rear washer and.... lots of noise from the pump but nothing! Not a drop! :x

Closer inspection of the washer bottle showed the hoses were completely kinked having not been installed properly after the engine went in (5 odd years ago!). 2 hours later I had fitted and refitted the washer bottle about 4 times including running the hoses various ways to avoid them kinking, fouling on the body, getting jammed etc. When I tried it all again I then found the next issue... The pumps in the washer bottle had the wrong wiring and had been reversed so hitting the rear wash sprayed the windscreen nicely!

I packed up at this point to try and not get inside too late and keep the Mrs happy. So my next task will be to again remove the washer bottle, drain & clean it as it has some washer fluid in it still, swap over the plugs for the pumps to the correct sides and refit. Once that is all done I can test the sprays, see how the coverage is and adjust to suit before tidying up the hosing etc. and taking photo's to make this post clearer for those wanting to copy the setup :P

Hahaha! I can't say my wife is the biggest fan of the system but luckily she also isn't a fan of MAFS so I'll take the trade off :P The kids love the sound system though so that is always fun :) They love the car running more though... as do both the Mrs and I so I need to find a way to get that sorted LOL.

Totally agree that working without music sucks, especially when wrenching solo. I will always have something on if I can.

Hopefully I can head back out there soon to get things moving along some more.

Had another quick play the other day and found the rear washer pump has stopped working :x front works a treat (as do the SX4 tripple jet nozzles) but the rear pump just clicks once when you hit the button so looks like I need to hit up ebay for another.

It is annoying but not a major deal. But just goes to prove there are no easy jobs on this car lol.

So nothing much has happened of late as I've been concentrating on other things and not had the $ to chase up the few parts I need to finish the water spray setup etc. but some kinda sad news for me on this is the nice bit of Suzukisport gear (filter/heat shield) won't be coming my way as I first thought

Ah well a few extra $ for other things I guess. Once I make some progress I'll post things up. The car really needs to come out of the shed for a wash and so I can get some better photo's of it but I need to get he oil return from the turbo to the sump sorted to keep it from making a mess and running out of oil! :P

Thanks guys! Always love the comments and support, it can be tough to get motivated when things aren't falling my way (as they seem to often do!), I'm keen to see things progress even if they are slow.

Plus I need to speed up the postman who has parts for me to sell and is being slow. More sold parts means more $ for the build.
