As most of you know, i lost most my car stuff in the floods, now the house is 80% done its time to start on the race car again, my goal this time is to make over 300hp on vitara pistons and spool rods. I have the head off the original yellow swift which is proven 300hp head, only the bottom end will need to hold up. Im using 76mm vitara pistons with the better quality rings, the block it away getting grouted up to the water jacket, i have a metal head gasket and another one the same type i have used in the pass, the machinist is going to make the call with what way we will go, after having a look at the metal gasket. I took the car out to queensland raceway to get a starting time and on the wet day it did a best of 1.14 which is not the best, im thinking the time was so slow due to the stiff shocks, Anyway here is the start of another build thread and a few pics to start it off

Dan - all power to you, I hope the 3.0 car is everything you hope for and more!! Keep us posted 'cos we would love to hear how it turns out!! One question though, if you are going for 300+hp then why not use better forged pistons than Vitara? And which turbo are you using? A VF? Good luck mate!!

Dan, It is fantastic to see that you are getting back on your feet again so soon. It is even better to see that you haven't lost the urge to keep pushing the 'G' series Suzuki engine as far as humanly possible! I'm looking forward to watching this build thread progress. Best Regards, Drew

Is the metal gasket you are checking out the Suzuki one? interested to see if you run with this, would make for a good off the shelf option.

This looks like Wayne's old car, and I see Dave has his old car back. Interesting Days. Good luck.

The reason for the piston selection was I ran vitara pistons 10 years ago and thought I was pushing the limit at 200 hp atw, Andy ran 240 hp atw 5 years ago and back then I thought again it was too much for them, I bought wanes car and it also has vitara pistons and is running 260 hp atw. I knew the Honda boys were running big hp with them for years, so I thought why not a swift, I have ran forged pistons it the passed but I'm confident they will hold looking at what the Honda boys have ran. I have jack brothers looking into the gasket, it's the Suzuki metal gasket picked up from the great boys at Suzuki auto services not just saying that because I owe them money it will be interesting what jack brothers have to say. I picked up some ID 1000 injector on friday had to make a call if I was going to run E85 or not, I went middle ground so I could go both ways if I wanted. With the turbo, the car runs a t2560 which is on the small side, and might run out of puff coming up on 300 hp, it's is better than I thought it would be coming from someone who has been running vf turbos for the last 10 years, it's got 250 at 20 psi i hope it does not fall over too soon looking to run 30psi and see where the hp ends up.

Good luck with your build! I hope you achieve your goal and remember that "Nothing great was ever achieved without enthusiasm " I have a set of ycp p29 for the honda .The seem to be very light only 230grams and the skirts seem weak only a couple of mm thick. Viara pistons have a good reputation, as for mahle and wiseco and the rest of the gang, well you mostly buy the BRAND.

I got the head back after pull down and check, will take pics late in the week. The block is done, rods, crank, pistons, all balanced and back. Looking into which way i will go with the coils and cdi. If all goes to plan i might get motivated and look at building the engine over xmas.

Making some good progress there!
Interested in how you go with the ID1000 injectors. Have just bought a set of Xspurt 1000cc injectors which, on looking at the deadtime and flow numbers, appear to be the same injector. Be interested in hearing how they run at idle and low speed on petrol and E85.
Also thinking about ignition myself. The LS1's just werent up to higher boost pressure (and the water/meth). Looking at LS2 "truck" coils now (3 times the output with 5msec dwell). I have looked at these over additional expense of multichannel cdi's.

Good choice on the ID injectors. seem to hear nothing but good things about them! high powered cars idling at low revs which is almost un-heard of! alot of videos of cars using them on youtube & seem to be very effective! I think il be using the 750cc myself

I heard the same, I have a lot of mates with 2 lt engines running I'd 2000 with no problem, they putt around the pits at idle like it's a street car, it's a lot different to years ago, the other reason for using them is the constancy between injectors, you would be surprised at the difference between some injectors at different duty cycles. One of the guys bought over 100 injectors to group them in groups per flow for his drag team.
