Just picked up my first Mk 2 from Quazimoto yesterday. Drove from Hexham to Tweed non stop and enjoyed every minute of it. A rough diamond at an extremely fair price. Should keep me amused 'pimping it up' for a while. Have wanted one since they were new, and this replaces the Mightyboy with Alto works motor and 4wd five speed I lost not long ago. If Quazi has anything you want posted for sale, my advice is to buy it. He is a fair and decent man. Oh, and the head unit he had for sale is gone now too.

what sort of ''pimping'' are we talking about?

I like the old school sleeper styling (stealth now I assume?). Subtle but deadly....
Less can be more so I don't want to dick around with the overall look of the original unit. Personally I think it works better in the surprise department if it looks 'ordinary' but goes like a rocket.
Since this will have to be our daily drive too I can't take it off the road for any serious length of time so progress will be dictated as much by 'what needs fixing' as anything else on the agenda. Long term though anythings possible. First stop, rego in three months......

Thanks for the welcome guys. :D

Can I suggest you first look at the suspension and brakes.

Then look at the engine.

This.so many people waste all there money on go fast bits rather than spending it where its most needed.

Haha Azza and Papa, I don't think anyone needs telling twice to look at the suspension and brakes of THIS car - that's because the engine goes just FINE and the suspension and general geometry of the car is pretty ordinary.

Definitely agree there, engine and box are great, suspension and steering need attention. Really 'Experienced' the 600+ km of road in it yesterday with the suspension as it is, but that's half the fun....... All the 'pretty' and 'go fast' bits can wait for a while. Glad I finally got one. 8)

Yep I'd certainly like to see it become something nice - everyone around me had no faith in it, I was always saying "It's a dodgy car but it's really good too." and after a while I started believing it had no good left in it (which is why i let it go cheap  ) but when I drove it with new sparkies and the good tyres back on just before Dave came to get it I thought "I'm going to miss this (even with my MK3 to drive)" - so I'd certainly love to see all the dodgy things about it transformed into quality so I can be all like "Wow, look at that."

Although guys who are looking at this thread, and I'm sure Dave won't mind me saying this - don't let that photo fool you, that's probably its nicest angle. It does look good from back a bit like that but it's a LONG way from winning any show'n'shines.

Anyway, wishing Dave the best of luck with it. =D>

Started cleaning it all up, doing a thorough check-up to prioritise repairs. I'll keep making updates as they happen.

Show and Shine.... Hahaha, be a while before that happens, it'll be covered in dust half the time from where I have to drive it for work, hopefully none of the potholes will swallow it up before I get the suspension sorted.....

First day off since Sunday. At some point in it's past the passenger side carpet was soaked with transmission fluid. Removed the carpet and will also have to remove the tar soundproofing too. Soaked up so much fluid it's gone soft like marshmallow and the smell in the car persists because of it. Interesting how much dirt goes through the carpet in 20+ years.... :)

Did the wreckers trip today.
Picked apart one barina and one sedan for lots of fasteners, nuts, screws, jack and wheel brace etc. Even managed to score a pristine rear parcel shelf for practically nothing!
Cleaned out the last of the trans fluid and no more smell either. Fixed the steering wheel rot with a nice prototype leather grip too. Not a bad day. :)
(still need carpet though...)

Nice work Dave.
That car is so filthy under the interior trim that it would be SO satisfying to just blast with RP-7 and degreaser and stuff.

I dunno what the hell has been done to it, cos when I removed the plastic panel that goes over the passenger rear side and hides the front seat belt, in MY car, it was clean unpainted metal - not a spec of dust.
In YOUR car, just that morning before you came to get it, when I went to put the belt in... I've seen cleaner used rugby boots than that.
