Mr GTP I had it wheel aligned last month, I stood there and watched the guy do it.. It may have been tyre pressures which I still need to check.

It was just an unsettled feeling.

For me any time a car has felt floaty it's a dead give away the shocks are long gone. That is where I would be looking first for sure.

Not a great deal to update lately but have been mucking around with machining a few pulleys.

Machined 2 alternator pulleys, and bought a 200mm length of 152mm 6061 aluminium for the crank and water pump pulleys..

Looking good,You up to making another set of pulleys? I'm after alt & w/pump alloy pulleys. I bought front pulley & alloy F/wheel from Suzukird but they didn't list or show others. Please pm price if you interested and have the time.

Been a long time between posts, a little change in direction of the car. But it has passed engineering and will be legal road going N/A m18 GTi within the next few weeks.. More to follow soon.

Knocked up a new exhaust that exits the rear of the car with another magnaflow muffler, bit of stuffing around but came out ok.

Fresh plugs and oil for another trip to the dyno on Wednesday.

It made 118hp, 220nm tq, bit down on what the JEM dyno produced but I'm more inclined to believe this reading.

It's all rego'd and road legal. Have put about 50kms on it and it feels awesome! So glad to be driving it after this long.
Took it for a spirited drive up the mountain close to my house and it was nothing but wheel spin on old second hand semis.
Will fit the coilovers, wilwoods and get a wheel alignment next week.

Here's a photo about 6yrs apart.

Bottom is today

Great work mate! That will be a blast to drive, especially with the bigger brakes and better suspension. All the hard work paying off nicely I'm sure! =D>

Long time between posts but there has been some action! Lol

Been getting a few Kms in town and through some hills locally to get a feel for the car but the s**t condition of the roads annoys me so I don’t drive it as much as I’d like. /rant

Over the last few months I’ve managed to fit a set of BC adjustable coilovers/shocks and some different spring rates front and rear, it is set up quite stiff now.

Yesterday I competed in my first hillclimb at Ringwood park. It was awesome fun, had 3 runs over the course of the day (65 cars in the field so it was a big day). I managed to knock a few seconds off my initial time through tyre pressures and a change in driving style.
I had a frustrating time with wheel spin and tramp on the left hand side.

1st-89.7
2nd-88.43
3rd-86.94

All in all it was a good day with some quick cars.

Now to fit an LSD before the next event

Here’s a video of the last run of the day. https://youtu.be/kuNSLOT2f6s

Sourced a damaged Swift sport G/box last week. Started stripping it down to check internal condition and remove everything ready to swap over into the M18a case.
Also have a M Factory 1.5/2 way LSD on its way, hopefully should be here this week ready for install.
In the mean time I’ll be removing motor and box from the GTi, stripping box down and replacing the relevant bearings..
Suprisingly I’ve owned GTis for 8 yrs and this is my first box rebuild..

I’ve taken a lot of photos, I’m thinking of doing a right up/how to thread for rebuild and installing LSD.

So I’m still waiting on 2 x bearings from Suzuki to be able to assemble the gear box, in the mean time I have finished off the water pump pulley I started a couple of years ago 8-[

I have a few more little jobs to knock off whilst the engine is out, 1 being a thermostat housing that I have to machine and the second I have to machine and weld a bung for the dash temp sender, I know they are not that accurate but some indication it’s cooking it’s self is better then none

Time for an update..
Have had a good run of bad luck lately, some through fault of my own and some just plain unlucky.
First off the pulley I’d previously machined was wrong.. The pulley I was using for dimensions was actually a 5 rib belt as opposed to a 4 rib, i found out the hard way when I went to install the pulley on the engine, I was lucky I had initially machined up 2 pulley blanks, so back on the mill and lathe and had it knocked out in a few hours.

Second, the gearbox! Re assembly was quite smooth apart from a couple of trips back and forward to the various bearing suppliers and local suzuki dealer.
I’d managed to find a stripped bolt for the gear selector so out came the heli cool kit only to find the original bolt was metric fine, so again back onto the lathe to modify a different bolt to suit..
Once the assembly was complete I’d chucked it all back together, engine in, all accessories and fluids. Fired the car up, now the clutch was not engaging :| I wasn’t happy at this point.
Did a bit of investigating and decided to pull the engine back out.

To cut a long story short I have installed the clutch plate backwards about 5-6 years ago and it has been running for the last 12-18 months not sure how it has been running so well for so long as it was.

Installed a new brass button clutch and have re installed everything and taken it for a test drive! It’s good! New sport ratios and LSD have made it a really fun car to drive now.

Pics are in no particular order but I’m sure you can make out what’s what from my rambling..
