Giving this a little bit of a shove.

PM's Chris in the wee hours Friday morning, ecu sent on Friday, received chipped ecu on Monday :)

Just installed the new chipped ecu this evening after work.

Current mods:
Pod Filter
2 3/4 Cat-Back Exhaust
Power Steering
Air Con
17inch Rims

Like some of you, I know my car inside out, after installing the chipped ecu, the car started fine and idles fine, no change here. After a quick drive down the street, I noticed a performance increase in my vert :) So off to the freeway I go to do some tests.

With my big ass 17inch rims, my vert feels very sluggish compared to my stock hub cap rims, specially at the low to mid rpm range. That was then, now the car definitely pulls harder in the lower rpm range, the fun really starts when the rpm reaches 3500rpm, thats when my vert feels strong all the way to redline, after about 15 minutes, the rain came and spoilt the fun!

Now I have an excuse to get off my lazy butt to get my 4-2-1 genie extractors that has been sitting collecting dust for the past 6 months installed.

So with the extractors, I'm guessing this will further help my mid range power and possibly low end power as well :) So I'm looking forward to that, and maybe get some cams in the future, but for now, I think the extractors will keep me happy for the time being.

Overall, I'm pretty impressed with the overall performance of the chipped ecu, for those of you who are thinking about it, just do it, you wont be dissapointed, like Chris said, regardless of what mods you have, there will be an increase in performance.

Chris is well known and trusted in the redline community and his awesome services are excellent as always, you couldn't ask for more.

Not sure who else received there ecu's, but I might be one of the first, so I'm happy to say I'm a happy camper :)

Top stuff.

Cheers
Tay

Thanks Tay!! Like i said.. i'm always glad to hear how everything turns out!!! Also glad to hear you love your new found power... which just makes it so much more fun.. isn't that right Tay.. BTW i cant be heald liable if you get speeding fine

I also take great pride in the work i undertake on these ECU's and want to make sure every single one is perfect... If i dont like the job i've done on it.. i will desolder the socket.. bin it and start from scratch.. near enough is not good enough in my books.. it's either perfect or start again!! So far i havent had to start again on any of them...

And Yes Tay you where the First interstate person to get one of these bad boys and hopefully is will the the first of many to come!! The second one turns up at a new house on wednesday... So we'll see what the owner thinks of that when he gets it..

Well I'll have Tay's ECU Back tomorrow here.. so there will be a Mk3 ECU Ready to go tomorrow afternoon!!

I also Recieved my Mk2 ECU ready for Exchanges, then that one will be ready for exchanges!! .. and i have another Mk2 ECU Coming tomorrow from superduki to be chiped and sent back... Lots of fun tomorrow :D

Any Questions feel free to ask here or in a PM

Chris.

Hey Chris why don't you just burn the chips yourself? Would be a hell of a lot cheaper than shipping them from half way across the world! All you need is the program (or a chip with the programmed already installed) a computer and a EPROM burner (cheap as chips off eBay)

I can even supply you EPROMs if you want  I promise I won't sabotage them :P

8) Great job chris. I just finished installing th joint project group A chip up for my mate carn (sweet swift gti) th solder was impeccable on your socket, and th turnaround time for th exchange was great.
Installed and fired up, well, a chip mightnt seem like much, but combined with exhaust and pod, it does make th car sound meaner, and is damn more responsive to drive (it unlocks th true power of bolt on parts)
I know you have a warranty on CJ ecus, but i doubt itll ever get called into play.
=D>

HAHA th hardest part of th install was me having to get under th dash to unhook th ecu

Installed my chipped ECU last night and could not be any happier. :P
It took me 2 sessions of half an hour after work over two days to install the ECU but if I did it again I know it would only take me 20 minutes. (now I know the little tricks)
My main troubles were fitting my huge hands into those tiny little spaces and now I know what Droo was talking about when he said his hands looked like a victim of some severe bondage. #-o

After my troubles getting the ECU out I went to work the next day and grabbed a 10mm ratchet spanner and 10" extension for the ratchet with a uni joint.
Only took me 5 minutes to get the ECU up and in with these tools.

Could not be happier with Chris's effort he has put into these ECU's and highly recommend to any one with slight mods to hit him up.

I commented to Chris last night just how much the exhaust note has changed, sounds alot tougher.
Also alot more throttle response down low in the revs in 2nd which is were the GTi needs it.

I have only driven 10 minutes to work and have not even tested it out fully yet and I'm still happy. :P

Thanks again Chris.

Chris supplies instructions but it is very basic to do if you have a bit of know how. 8)

This is looking thru the speaker hole to where the ECU is located.
10mm socket with a long extension and uni joint will have the 2 front bolts out in no time.
I used a 10mm ratchet spanner for the bolt on the front left.

This is the chipped ECU:

Well another satisified customer!

Got my chipped ecu back from gtaye, posted it express to him monday at lunch time, It was chipped and returned to my work about mid morning wednesday. Fitted it up wednesday night, and started and ran fine without hesitation. On first drive it stumbled a bit, but I opted for the turbo chip, due to my turbo conversion about to be underway. So it will overfuel at idle in N/A form. once I drove it, I didnt really notice much performance gain as yet (still N/A) but holding gears uphill has greatly improved. A hill I drive up every day usually sees me up it at 3rd gear at 70-80 clicks, now quite comfortably holds 4th. Its certainly motivated me to boost it asap.

So for anyone doubting the whole chip idea, for me it was manditory for turbo use but I wouldnt have any hesitation opting for a N/A chip off Gtaye, his quick manner, easy communication and warranty..... thats right a warranty! is definately a go for option!

Cheers to you Gtaye, Im certainly one more happy customer!

Superduki.

Thanks Superduki!!

I really did wonder how a Turbo Chip would run in NA Form, i knew it would overfuel but good to hear there is still abit of a gain for now.. And a very large thanks for being the Guinea Pig for trying not only the Turbo Chip in NA Form bit for also letting me know how it goes... Always glad to hear ... Best of luck with the Turbo conversion too.. let me know how it comes along and what power you pull out of it!!!

I'm Glad to hear the ECU is doing what it should!!!

Chris.
