Item Description:
Alright everyone, I've now taken up the skill of Chipping ECU's as the cost just escalates like crazy from what i've been hearing and sick of hearing people paying upto $80 to get their Chips fitted and alot of People PM'ing me asking where to get it done..

And because i loved Chipped ECU's so much i think we should all benefit

Why Should i Chip my GTi?
Well In the form of GTi's today, the stock Computer wasn't really designed to excel Mods when they where fitted, sure you gain some power.. but you could gain more with a GrpA Chip. These Make more power in Stock as a Rock GTi's all the way to your crazy Wild Cam'ed GTi with Exhaust mods, Intake mods and Ignition Mods plus any other mods you have, These Chips run modified and re - maped Fuel and Ignition Maps to gain the power!!

As for the Turbo Chips. Well the stock ECU wasn't really designed with Boost in mind... These Chips are safe and sound to use to 10PSI and hold Advanced Timing maps and Re-maped Fuel maps Suitable for the Turbo Applications

They are the Heart and brains behind your GTi and by far the MOST important Mod!! And for the Price.. you cant go wrong!! This would have to be the place to Start your modifications or to excel current modifications. I Am yet to hear a Bad word about these Chips!!! You wont be disappointed!!!

So What's on Offer?
I will be Using GrpA and Turbo Chips And will be stocking them here in Adelaide with ECU's Ready to Send,

As Soon as i Recieve your Order with what Mk GTi you have and what Chip you want. I will fit that Chip to the ECU i have already fitted a Socket to and send it on the Day payment is cleared Via Express Post which is a Next Day Service!! So you can be enjoying your GTi ALOT more in just over 24 hours!!

Fitting?

This is very basic.. as long as you have the ability to undo a few bolts, and unplug 3 Plugs you dont have a problem.. Even for the first timer this is EASY and very basic.. I will supply Clear instructions printed with the ECU.. All you need is a 10mm spanner/Socket, Phillips Head Screw Driver and about 15 minutes (If that) and your done.. This can easily be done in a work Lunch break and still enough time to munch down the food and go for a test drive and feel that Grunt!!

For Local People I can remove the stock ECU and Fit a Chipped ECU for a small additional Fee even if you want, guide you through the process of removing and re-fitting the ECU

Whats Included?
The service will be done on Exchange Basis Which includes

- Brand New ECU Chip Supplied and Fitted to ECU (Using a socket) NA or Turbo
- For Local (Adelaide People) I will be able to remove and Refit the ECU from your car if need be for a small additonal Fee

Price Range:

Prices INCLUDES everything above.

Mk 2 & 3 NA Chips

$100

Turbo Chips Mk2 or 3

$200

The Mk3 Turbo Chip works in Mk2 ECU but has the Check Engine Light.

BYO Chip

- If you already have a chip and want that installed i can fit the chip

If your interstate and have a chip but dont want to pay outrageous prices.. You have a few options

- 1. I can fit an ECU here with the Same Turbo or NA Chip, and you send me your Chip and your Old ECU when one with everything fitted arrives and you have fitted it.
- 2. You send me your chip with socket and i Fit it a ECU (You supply or i'll use one of my exchange Units)
- 3. I Fit a Socket to an Exchange ECU and you fit your chip when it arrives, then fit the ECU to your car and send me your standard ECU Back.

All These are at a Fixed cost of $55.

So I'm basicly selling these for the cost of JUST the chip alone normally + postage.. But you get an ECU ready to go right into the car and turn the key and dont have to worry about going to find someone and spending upto $80 getting them installed.

For Interstate People I am happy to work on an exchange Basis, Postage is a Fixed $30 Aus Wide which includes Express Post Postage and also an Extra Express Post Satchel for you to return your stock ECU back to me in (Postage costs $16 Each for 3kg Express Post Satchel Hence $32 Fixed)

So when you receive the chipped ECU in the Express Post Satchel you get;

- 1x Chipped ECU With Turbo or GrpA Chip Fitted (With socket)
- 1x Express Post Satchel Already filled in with my Details For the Return of your Stock ECU
- 1x Fitting Instructions (ECU Removal And Re-Fitting)

All ECU's will be Tested PRIOR to being packed and sent. Also i'll be giving a lifetime warranty on Workmanship.

Hey Gtaye,

Ive got a 1990 Mk2, If I sent my ecu over to you, and had the turbo chip fitted, what would the total cost be? I just want to re-use my ecu because i know its condition and age. Would it take long? Also is it possible to fit the turbo ecu and drive it N/A until my turbo is fitted? Obviously I want to do it all at once, but Im not starting my turbo conversion till my fortnight holidays in august. Im just gathering all the bits now, so it takes me under a week, and a week of holidays to enjoy it!

Cheers in advance, Superduki.

Happy to use your ECU as i dont have any Mk2 ones in stock to do an exchange with but i defiantly can chip your ecu!!

Plan will be like this, you send me the ECU, i fit the Socket and Turbo Chip to it.. and send it back express posted!! (Have to double check and make sure your in the express zone) If you send me the ECU on a monday express post.. i'll have it on tuesday, chip it and send it back the same day.. and it's back with you on wednesday. And yes you can drive it in NA form until you are turbo. The only issue with the turbo chip in Mk2 is the Check Engine light will stay on.. but there is nothing actually wrong, it's because the chip is for Mk3.. but works in Mk2 fine just that little thing

As soon as i recieve your ECU i'll get to work on it.. so if i get it in the morning.. i'll be sending it back around mid day... so i wont have it for longer then a few hours before it's on it's way back to you.. Total cost will be $211 ($200 for Old chip desoldered, removed, new chip Supplied, and Fitted.. and $11 for Express Post postage back to you)

Ok mate, done deal!
Have you scanned the ecu to see why the check engine light comes on? I dont doubt the chip for one minute, but it gets me as to why it would illuminate if its fine? Is this due to ignition and fuel curves altered, which makes the 02 sensor spit the craps? because its reading an unknown value?

Please pm or contact me on 0439 791 195 (simon) when you get the chip to you, and ill remove the ecu and post it to you! I should be in the express zone as im in the centre of Hobart, the capital of Tasmania!.
Cheers mate, this is a good thing you've got going!
Simon.

Thanks mate... Always glad to help out the redliners Plus i bought brand new soldering and testing gear for the purpose of chipping ECU's to make sure i could do them to the upmost high quality.. And i bench test the ECU's prior to sending them out so i know they will work when a buyer turns the key. as the last thing i want is unhappy buyers.. i'd rather have good feedback rather then bad and want to maintain a high standard with every ECU i work on..

Each one i do work on, the standard chip is removed, socket soldered in place, Bench test the Chip connections, fit chip to the socket, go over the whole ecu looking for any dry joints or anything that later on in life may cause issues and fix these all up (If necessary), test everything again, then close it all up and send it on it's way.

Just for info.. i've got one ECU here that i've removed the EPROM from tonight as i had an Adelaide member take me up on this offer tonight.. and Fitted a GrpA Chipped ECU into his car and he is loving it.. rang me up raving about it..

So i've got one ecu ready for the socket and ECU chip to be fitted when the chips arrive next week.. so who wants first dibs on the Exchange Plan? and what chip did you want fitted to it?

Giving this a little bit of a shove.

PM's Chris in the wee hours Friday morning, ecu sent on Friday, received chipped ecu on Monday :)

Just installed the new chipped ecu this evening after work.

Current mods:
Pod Filter
2 3/4 Cat-Back Exhaust
Power Steering
Air Con
17inch Rims

Like some of you, I know my car inside out, after installing the chipped ecu, the car started fine and idles fine, no change here. After a quick drive down the street, I noticed a performance increase in my vert :) So off to the freeway I go to do some tests.

With my big ass 17inch rims, my vert feels very sluggish compared to my stock hub cap rims, specially at the low to mid rpm range. That was then, now the car definitely pulls harder in the lower rpm range, the fun really starts when the rpm reaches 3500rpm, thats when my vert feels strong all the way to redline, after about 15 minutes, the rain came and spoilt the fun!

Now I have an excuse to get off my lazy butt to get my 4-2-1 genie extractors that has been sitting collecting dust for the past 6 months installed.

So with the extractors, I'm guessing this will further help my mid range power and possibly low end power as well :) So I'm looking forward to that, and maybe get some cams in the future, but for now, I think the extractors will keep me happy for the time being.

Overall, I'm pretty impressed with the overall performance of the chipped ecu, for those of you who are thinking about it, just do it, you wont be dissapointed, like Chris said, regardless of what mods you have, there will be an increase in performance.

Chris is well known and trusted in the redline community and his awesome services are excellent as always, you couldn't ask for more.

Not sure who else received there ecu's, but I might be one of the first, so I'm happy to say I'm a happy camper :)

Top stuff.

Cheers

Thanks Tay!! Like i said.. i'm always glad to hear how everything turns out!!! Also glad to hear you love your new found power... which just makes it so much more fun.. isn't that right Tay.. BTW i cant be heald liable if you get speeding fine

I also take great pride in the work i undertake on these ECU's and want to make sure every single one is perfect... If i dont like the job i've done on it.. i will desolder the socket.. bin it and start from scratch.. near enough is not good enough in my books.. it's either perfect or start again!! So far i havent had to start again on any of them...

And Yes Tay you where the First interstate person to get one of these bad boys and hopefully is will the the first of many to come!! The second one turns up at a new house on wednesday... So we'll see what the owner thinks of that when he gets it..

Well I'll have Tay's ECU Back tomorrow here.. so there will be a Mk3 ECU Ready to go tomorrow afternoon!!

I also Recieved my Mk2 ECU ready for Exchanges, then that one will be ready for exchanges!! .. and i have another Mk2 ECU Coming tomorrow from superduki to be chiped and sent back... Lots of fun tomorrow :D

Any Questions feel free to ask here or in a PM

Chris.

Hey Chris why don't you just burn the chips yourself? Would be a hell of a lot cheaper than shipping them from half way across the world! All you need is the program (or a chip with the programmed already installed) a computer and a EPROM burner (cheap as chips off eBay)

I can even supply you EPROMs if you want  I promise I won't sabotage them :P

8) Great job chris. I just finished installing th joint project group A chip up for my mate carn (sweet swift gti) th solder was impeccable on your socket, and th turnaround time for th exchange was great.
Installed and fired up, well, a chip mightnt seem like much, but combined with exhaust and pod, it does make th car sound meaner, and is damn more responsive to drive (it unlocks th true power of bolt on parts)
I know you have a warranty on CJ ecus, but i doubt itll ever get called into play.
=D>

HAHA th hardest part of th install was me having to get under th dash to unhook th ecu

Installed my chipped ECU last night and could not be any happier. :P
It took me 2 sessions of half an hour after work over two days to install the ECU but if I did it again I know it would only take me 20 minutes. (now I know the little tricks)
My main troubles were fitting my huge hands into those tiny little spaces and now I know what Droo was talking about when he said his hands looked like a victim of some severe bondage. #-o

After my troubles getting the ECU out I went to work the next day and grabbed a 10mm ratchet spanner and 10" extension for the ratchet with a uni joint.
Only took me 5 minutes to get the ECU up and in with these tools.

Could not be happier with Chris's effort he has put into these ECU's and highly recommend to any one with slight mods to hit him up.

I commented to Chris last night just how much the exhaust note has changed, sounds alot tougher.
Also alot more throttle response down low in the revs in 2nd which is were the GTi needs it.

I have only driven 10 minutes to work and have not even tested it out fully yet and I'm still happy. :P

Thanks again Chris.

Chris supplies instructions but it is very basic to do if you have a bit of know how. 8)

This is looking thru the speaker hole to where the ECU is located.
10mm socket with a long extension and uni joint will have the 2 front bolts out in no time.
I used a 10mm ratchet spanner for the bolt on the front left.

Well another satisified customer!

Got my chipped ecu back from gtaye, posted it express to him monday at lunch time, It was chipped and returned to my work about mid morning wednesday. Fitted it up wednesday night, and started and ran fine without hesitation. On first drive it stumbled a bit, but I opted for the turbo chip, due to my turbo conversion about to be underway. So it will overfuel at idle in N/A form. once I drove it, I didnt really notice much performance gain as yet (still N/A) but holding gears uphill has greatly improved. A hill I drive up every day usually sees me up it at 3rd gear at 70-80 clicks, now quite comfortably holds 4th. Its certainly motivated me to boost it asap.

So for anyone doubting the whole chip idea, for me it was manditory for turbo use but I wouldnt have any hesitation opting for a N/A chip off Gtaye, his quick manner, easy communication and warranty..... thats right a warranty! is definately a go for option!

Cheers to you Gtaye, Im certainly one more happy customer!

Thanks Superduki!!

I really did wonder how a Turbo Chip would run in NA Form, i knew it would overfuel but good to hear there is still abit of a gain for now.. And a very large thanks for being the Guinea Pig for trying not only the Turbo Chip in NA Form bit for also letting me know how it goes... Always glad to hear ... Best of luck with the Turbo conversion too.. let me know how it comes along and what power you pull out of it!!!

I'm Glad to hear the ECU is doing what it should!!!

Chris.

Hi ppl,

Just Chipped my NA mk3 yesterday. Well you can really feel the difference with this chip. It's more responsive and pull much smoother/quicker to the redline. To test whether this isn't just a placebo effect, I drove to canberra and back today (weather was bad, got pushed around by the wind  ). The chip does make a difference with my BD14 cam setting. So It's recommended for anyone who want a good and cheap mod.

Thanks Chris for being patient and helpful. You're the champ =D>

Gday Gtaye,

I have an MK2 eprom chip from BDMotorsports and engine light and problems occur.
My OEM was damaged so I threw it out.
If possible can I send the Eprom that I recently bought to get re-flashed?

Thanks,
Jerry

Unfortunately i can not reflash ECU's i dont carry or have the equipment.. Best to get intouch with Brett from BD Motorsport First.. he may be able to offer you another option.. that will give you the desired result..
