I figured that i personally will be heading out to marulan a fair bit and i know mark(waylow) is aswell so i thought i would start a thread.. This way we dont have to keep high-jacking other threads....

Me and a mate went down today with the MX5 club.. Got down there sun was shinning, birds were chirpping and motors were reving...

Went out and pulled consistant 48.20's all day with the very occasional high 47... Then near the end of the day i was wondering what i was doing wrong and that i should be quicker than that considering my wet time... So i went and watched the "race" guys and saw there braking points and lines they were taking..

Jumped in the car and went out and they told me i had 5 min before no more racing, so went out and tried my new braking style and times were getting lower and lower.. In those 5 min i dropped a few seconds down to 46.9...

It was an amazing day, although my mate blew his motor which ment he was on the trailer still had a good time... Really really have to do something about my brakes before next day out tho...

:) hope to see ya's out there...

good to see improvement. If you wach the fast guys at the very least try the same lines. chances are they are ok. Well done.

Brakes:
I ran supersprint series with stock rotors and calipers. I did limit my practice days to no more then 5 laps with a cool down lap. If your car is a track focussed car try the pads DmwDave is offering. If its a road car try Pagid Blue , or Forodo DS2500 (might have a look at DS2000 being a road car). I used Castrol 4+ and bled the fluid out of the caliper every 2 events. The car used to run stock weight.
I used Dave's cut pads, never had an issue. And Im pretty late on brakes, catching most guys in the braking zones..

The car is majority track with very little street work... It will be towed to most events. I wish i could run those pads dave has but ive got the honda prelude calipers on the front.. I've got EBC "racing fluid" which i boiled first lap out after being told it wont boil.. So next fluid i run i think will be the motul RBF600, havnt decided on which pads to run as yet. Some decent race pads.

I bled them pretty much after every stint and still upto s**t.. So just going to have to work it out before next outing

if you do a warm up lap,3 quick laps, cool down and another3 quick laps you will find your brake issues of boiling the liquid start to dissapear. remember to go for a short drive after you come off the track before you stop.

the drive cools your brakes. being stationary does not. you may also consider ducting to the calipers.

I'm impressed - good time!!!!! :P :P

I currently have my monster R32 brakes & some sort of larger booster I think - and they had the fluid boil too!

Post when you are planning to go out there again!! I'm keen..

Try ATE racing blue for brake fluid.
Although I must say I never came accross a brake fluid which is fade free. I have motul rbf in my other car and will see how it goes with it, but with ATE the pedal just goes a bit soft after 10km of a special stage, at that point it still brakes 100% efficiently though.

EDIT-In motorsport people downshit ar ridicilously high rpm to get their car to stop, I think it is pointless at a track day in your own car, not to mention a daily runner. Point of this being:it will all boil. :|

Hi Buzza, Tekkie, Waylow, Cappa, etc

I'm trying to work out when it would be possible to do Marulan (or Wakefield) again! :P

Here are a few events I am aware of - are there any others to suggest, and any chance a few of us can do it together??!!

Wakefield Park, CircuitClub – Monday 27th April, $145. Note this is not a holiday apparently! Anzac Day w’end though.
I will be away though I think unfortunately..
http://www.circuitclub.com.au/forum/viewtopic.php?t=595

Another website called Autosport has a lot of trackdays similar to CircuitClub too!
http://events.autosports.com.au/events/
05-Apr-2009 $50.00 Come drive the new track at Marulan. $50 per driver MDTC - Marulan Driver Training Centre
09-May-2009 $180.00 Autosports, Wakefield Park.. Sat 9th May 2009 Wakefield Park Raceway
08-Jun-2009 $275.00 Oran Park "GP" Circuit. 8th June (JUNE LONG WEEKEND) Oran Park Raceway

Other events & clubs??
Weekdays even???

Pretty sure Waylow is planning a day at Marulan for sometime in April.

Hi folks,

I spoke with Garry at Marulan today and there are dates on the calendar link below where anyone can turn up at Marulan for a spin ($100)
(if you have probs viewing the calendar, you may need to try a later version of IE or some other browser, it seems fragile)

http://www.mdtc.com.au/calendar/index.php

So I was thinking of going on one of these days - anyone else interested? :P ;
Wed 15th April – Track Driver Training day
Wed 22nd April – Track Driver Training day

BTW there is another thread on a similar theme, so here is a link to it to close the loop and hopefully minimise confusion;
