Great video ,looked like it was very close between you two again certainly for the first few laps. The rear view angle really shows how fast you are going which is sometimes lost on the forward faceing videos.

Shows the big difference between handling and power. Except for that excursion at the bottom of the track you held on well. The arse looked a little loose on some corners but I guess you like a bit of loose arse. HA HA :) [-X

Scott had trouble getting grip for the 1st couple of laps, I suspect his tyre pressure may not have been quite right

I can use all the help I can get

It is so much fun battling with Scott

We got heaps of good video between our 3 cameras

You guys are running in a pursuit or dual car format? actually racing against the clock not each other? thats how our sprints are run, saves on flag marshals, do you line up against who ever you want in your group?

Good footage, I think I will mount another camera rearward, that way I'll have evidence when my opposition dive bombs me from a long way out...

It is dual car format

You are not actually meant to be racing

No one told us that

:D thats exactly how we run on our sprint days, we always get the 'you're not racing for sheep stations' lecture before hand but nobody listens

We get grouped usually in 8 or 10 cars and you can line up against whoever you want, some guys like to race and some just want to race against the clock for good times.

Recently we have had a few multi car sprints, grids of 8 cars racing together, helps bridge the gap between sprints and full on club racing.

I'd like to see the in car footage of your 'almost lose' at the bottom of the hill 8)

Hey Jasstv,

Thanks again for another great video. My car is very stock and I would like to know what you had to do to your car to be able to compete. Other Redliners are suggesting I will need racing tyres to start with.

Cheers Paul

I see now why you went off, as you were going to run up Scotts arse if you didnt. The GTi handles somewhat better than the Yaris and if you took smoother lines you never know what might happen. I think I will have to join you guys next year.

Scotts car handles very well & he drives it quickly

Scott & I have discussed ths handling of our cars.

Our power to weight is very close but the Suzuki is more nimble in the corners with its lighter weight. 773kg to the Yaris 930kg

The Yaris have more torque than my Suzuki & can pull away on the uphill section on the main straight

It is so much fun competing against each other

   pretty hard with a plate type lsd, watching the wheel work inside the car on this and other clips is pretty good, 2.8 turns lock to lock would make life a little easier on some of the really tight corners.

As far as improving your driving I think moving the camera back so you car see your head as well as your hands is helpfull, head movement or there lack of is something thats taking me quite a while to correct (and still guilty of it), something that karters learn at a very early age.

Start a new thread as it could well be a few pages worth of dicussion and debate, although I'm sure we have covered this plenty of times before :-k

I raced karts from 13 to 18, then rally cross at Mistery Creek in Hamilton & motorkhana & rally sprints in Aus until we wrote the car off & had a 20 year break from motorsport

My advice to any newby to racing is drive on as many different surfaces as you can. I agree with you Derek Motorkhanas are an awesome way to learn car control

It amazes me the number of club racers who will not go out in the rain. It is the best way to learn how to drive a car that moves around

Just ask Casey Stoner, So many GP riders came from dirt bike racing & are used to the bike sliding

It is so much fun

Mystery Creek 8) many memories from watching events there, the water splash and banked tarmac berm were removed not long after I started competing :( noise issues pretty much killed off motorsport at the creek for many years, although being near a kart track and airport you wouldn't think it should be a problem...

Karting at a young age is a huge advantage, taken me years to self correct stupid things like wheel shuffling that they used to teach when learning to drive, thumbs on the outside, head still and eyes level, etc, although things like that remain true for many sports from motorcross to hitting a ball with a bat...

As for the rain, yeah bring it on  anything slippery and swifts start punching well above their weight 8)

Mystery Creek was awesome in our mighty Mini

You took off from the start line on the dirt into a right hand hairpin, down a straight into a left hander into the water spash (twin wiper motors with perferated tubes running along the wiper blades), through the water splash onto a sweeping tarmac sweeper, over a jump & back onto the dirt straight.

I would back at rally cross like a shot if they had it here

They have a Swift Rally Cross series in England, Even the juniors have a class

Rod Millen came out one day & borrowed a pretty standard KE20 Corolla, drove down the outside of everyone, chucked it sideways into the hairpin & disappeared into the distance (amazing driving talent)
