Make sure to take plenty of pics to put in the redline picture gallery, who knows when or if there will be another such cruise in WA!

Have fun, shame I cant make it this time.
Duke, as always, you have managed to hit the nail squarely on the head! =D>

Indeed, I have been considering retirement from all things cruisewise. I may have one last effort left in me for a later time... but for this to happen I will require a strong response from the rest of those amongst us here who have also achieved 'silver'...

started the GTi last night after installing the timing belt, cam gears, cultus cams and rebuilt dizzy.

Sounded Sweeeeet.... BUT it still idles very low on electrical load after when it's warmed up and almost stalling on certain occassions i give it a hard rev in netrual. ANY IDEA WHAT I CAN DO?

Need to check the ISC. Thank goodness the cruise is in the day which i do not need to have the headlights on.

Hi Everyone,

Unbelievably, the worst case scenario has arisen... I'm officially out. #-o

Cruise is now postponed until my next home leave weekend which is Sunday the 11th of December.

I handed the car to my mechanic early this morning as I had another appointment today. When I hadn't heard anything by 2:30pm, I rang up to see how things were going. The reply was "So what exactly is wrong with it?"... Needless to say I was up there within 5 minutes and demonstrated exactly what was wrong within 500m of the workshop. Red faces all around at that point. We then started testing and found that a brand new passenger's side outer CV was completely toasted! Took the boot off and smoke literally jetted out of the thing like a genie out of a bottle even though it was full of grease! It was close to 3:30pm by this stage. They managed to get a new driveshaft (warranty job) couriered over from Midland and had just fitted it up by 5pm. However, upon testing the car, the problem still remains! They are now thinking a wheel bearing (also brand new) has cacked it as well, but have now run out of time.

So, she is still in the shop and they will have another crack at it on Monday. I am the proud owner of an invisible GTi it seems... invisible because I never ever see it parked in my driveway.

Apologies for the postponement, but as they say: "If it aint' fucked, then it aint' a real Suzuki".

Cheers,

Drew

Bad new here as well. A solo attempt at changing disc/calipers/fluid (solo bleeding) fail miserably spongy brakes at best and a fair bit of drag from the rear I suspect.

Hey steve return my call. I found a sock for you.

Yeah... so very sorry everyone... I'm absolutely fucking gutted.  The weather forecast was looking perfect and my wife had even brought me a cool present to take along on the cruise.

The worst part is my car is still fucked and I still don't really know what is going on with it yet. How can two brand new components suddenly fail like this? I have done less than a thousand km's, no burnouts, no hard launches, hit no potholes etc...

But on a brighter note, at least we might pick up a few more members in three weeks time! =D>

Cheers,

Drew

Arh to bad, I'll have to see closer to the date if I can make it.

Steve, my gti is running like a charm :P Nice change from 2010 when it was broken every second week!

At least I got time to dial in the cam gears and get it tuned with my new camshafts at hyperdrive. They can have the car for few weeks to sort the idle issue as well.

Sorry to hear about all your car troubles and the cruise being cancelled. Hopefully it might give me a chance to make the next one though.

Sorry guys, looks like I can't make it anymore, as of this morning I have 48 hours left in Perth. I'm being flown out on contract to...(drum roll)...Darwin! Looks like I have a lot of heat and humidity to look forward to. Good luck with the cruise, hopefully I'll catch the next one when I'm back! :)

Yeah it was good. I had my father as co-driver/navigator and he hasnt done that before so I wasnt as competitive as I normally would be. We were put into the over 2 litre class and managed third in class and 10th outright so it wasnt too bad considering I was driving it as I saw it rather than having pace notes.

Sorry but I cant make the next cruise as I will be working. Four jobs doesnt give you much time off! I will be trying to make the Last Blast Superkhana on Sunday 18th December but will keep you all posted.
