Hey guys!

Since no-one in Queensland that has tried to organise a cruise recently can actually hold it together and put down some solid details, I've decided to try my hand and holding another one after the Tambourine run I did earlier on this year that was met with a fair amount of success.

This cruise I'd love for ALL (or at least most) of the Queensland Redliners to come out for a good day of fun and relaxation and so that we can all meet and maybe make this a little bit more regular and create more of a scene for Queensland RedlineGTi members who like to get out!

1. Springwood Ikea (now super amart - corner of Springwood and Rochedale road) via Mt. Nebo & Glorious to Somerset Dam!

Itinerary

9.30am - Arrive at Springwood Ikea (now Super Amart - on the corner of Rochedale and Springwood road by MacDonalds), discuss the drive, choose radio channel and have a good ol' chinwag.
10.00 - Set off towards the city via the highway and then out towards Nebo.
11.00ish - arrive and petrol station just before Nebo for any snacks and refuelling.
12.30ish - arrive at Somerset Dam
3-5 - split up for the drive back

What You'll Need

- A little meat and bread as contribution to the BBQ
- sunscreen and swimwear
- handheld radios for communication
- money for fuel/snacks along the way

Notes

- I will be bringing Sauces for the BBQ along. If you want anything else than BBQ or Tomato you'll need to bring it yourself.
- I will have an esky full of cans in ice on the day for a dollar a can if anyone wants any ice cold drinks.

People in Attendance

- Maximum
- Drumer_z
- MSF17
- ZOOKIGTX (possibly out due to flood damage )
- WIZ48

- 7rav_GTI
- flutterbi
- jason73
- suzi sport24
- luvmysuzuki

Yeah, I've gone on the number 1 cruise before and it is truly an enriching drive with a bit of fun, bit of relaxed driving and a beautiful swim and hang out at the end of it.

Early Feb could be an idea, maybe the first Sunday of February? I'll stick up Sunday, February 6th as the date up for discussion and see what people reckon.

Mt Nebo in my sport is so much fun

Course 1 for me, i did it last weekend in the wet... Loving my new suspension and wheels and tyres. Such a beautiful drive, not too many idiots, but it was wet. Just have to watch out for cyclists. Passed about 20...

i vote for the first option. it's a great drive and will take up most of the day. Can i suggest if you have either a hand held or in car UHF that you put some fresh batteries and bring it along. I use mine every time we go out and it's a life saver in case some one gets lost or trapped by traffic lights. If we are going over nibo it might be a good idea to have one last stop before the mountain to give people a chance to catch up to the group and fill up / get some food.
On ya maximum for orgainising a cruize. I check them on a regular basis and there isn't many for the qld section. C you all there!

Sounds like option 1 is shaping up to be the winner and the Feb 6th date sounds like no one has an issue with it. The handheld radios are a good idea, I will make sure I have a set and will work out a channel before we head out.

Any suzukis are welcome whether they be old swift, new swift, baleno or whatever!

No worries wiz, I agree there are barely any QLD cruises organized these days, the only redline cruise I've ever been on is the Tambo run I organized myself haha. Wasn't a bad day considering it's not an amazing destination. Was good fun on the way down though

Cool stuff, feel free to come along!

Just a side note guys, if you're going to hoon it around and put other peoples cars in danger, don't bother to come along. I'm all for a few little blasts through the twisties but we don't need someone who is going to pull handbrake skids around every corner and sit on peoples arses the whole way. Just a reminder for anyone who may read this and want to come along. I'd like a safe, fun day with no heartbreak at the end of it because someone was being stupid.

Cheers

Sounds good guys, let's make this a day full of fun so we can get this happening a bit
more and maybe make some new friends :)

I'll modify the top post with the obvious choice, times, details, people attending and the like.

Well done Maximum for standing up and putting this together .. It's a fair bit of work to organise - and i see that you have really put in the effort ..

I will have to see if I will be attending - maybe going down to Bathurst 12 hour that weekend as an official

Good to hear WIZ!

Neo, it wasn't actually as much planning as it seems as I've gone on a drive on this route before and after organising the last cruise I did, it took alot less time to plan ;) really hope to see you and one of your MK1s there! Be nice to run with an old school GTi for once ;)

anyone else in??!!

Looks to be quite a turnout already and we are still a month and a bit away! Sounding good guys, don't forget that everybody needs to bring their own meat for the BBQ. I've got the sauces all organized and I'll have that esky full of ice and cans for a buck each. ;)
