Hi

I have a Swift Sport on 08 plate which has a common brake issue.
My brakes squeal/screech/are very noisy when cold and under braking.
I have light noises when the car is reversing also.

I have had two sets of "brake pads and discs all round" and one set of front pads replaced since it was purchased in August 2008.

Does anyone know of a solution how to resolve this issue.
I have been informed by Suzuki this is related to new regulations on pads and asbestos etc.

I would like to get third party pads/discs.

My questions are:
-will this solve my issue?
-what pads/discs do I need to get?
-Should i just replace the pads?
-What makes/models of pads and where to buy from?

I would be very appreciative of any help/experience anyone else has on this issue.
Thank you in advance

Hang on, not quite sure what you're saying here - are you saying you've had the discs and pads replaced once since it was new... and then the front pads replaced AGAIN?

As I said I can't be sure what you're saying but they shouldn't be noisy in the first place - it might be reasonable that you'd have to replace the pads but unless you drive like a nut, I shouldn't think you'd have to replace the discs.

New regulations being those that are at least 10 years old on brake pads not having asbestos? I dunno, but it sounds like Suzuki are saying whatever comes to mind to get out of fixing stuff under warranty. If it's still under warranty (which, assuming you have the same warranties over there, it is but only for another month) then I'd take it to a different Suzuki and say 'Fix it please.' and don't accept any excuses.

In answer to your question, your brakes shouldn't make any reasonable amount of noise unless there is something wrong with them - it sounds like they were never right off the production line, so I doubt replacing the pads will help. If you can't get it fixed by Suzuki, I'd find the best brake specialist in town and take it there and they should be able to sort it, whether it be for 80 pounds or 300, I don't know.

^tl;dr...

Quasi you really need to learn how to give short answers, long winded dribble doesn't work on the intarwebs.

The the op, It sounds like your pads are either running low and due for replacement or the anti squeal shims have not been fitted.
Take a wheel off and look at the pad, 10mm thickness each brake pad (friction surface and backing pad) is usually the minimum.

Squealing pads also have a lot to do with driving style. My missus glazes pads like baked ham and they start squealing within days of being fitted. I drive the car a few times and the noise almost disappears.

Try switching to a different compound pad if what you have doesn't work for you.

That add for that service was pretty catchy Ellis, unfortunately I don't have any reading disabilities.

I just know that the majority of people that use the Internet/automotive forums have short attention spans, I would have thought that you'd have realized this, seeing as though you act so learned. #-o

Your posts are long, boring and don't pose much value in the form of help. They only seem to be posted so you feel better about looking more intellectual than others?

Hi

Just to be clear I have been through 2 x full discs and pads on different occasions, and 1 x instance of further front pads were replaced.
I honestly dont know if they can fix it, they dont know whats wrong.
I guess they can only replace the pads with "Suzuki Parts" and they are not good enough.

My pads are like new, i barely used the car and drive around town. I dont get much speed up to use a lot of the brakes.
It would be useful to know who makes good pads, does anyone know of good manufacturers?

Make sure you get documentation of the problem from your dealer. Then you should be able to make them fix it even after the warranty has run out as it was reported before.

You could also try some of that anti squeal spray on the backs of the pads it can't hurt.
