Nice work, the area just in front of the Windscreen is a area with a grill for air so the bonnet does mot reach right to the screen as with later models .. will see what I can get you in the way of images

Thank you for all your concerns son has a broken metacarpal (hand bone) broken toe some seatbelt bruising otherwise ok Amazing for a car that is this old and a guy that is 6'5" and 140kg and he got away quite well Have to work out what the insurance is going to do - if we can get the wreck back...

I know when one of the older Redliners removed the floor pan deadening from a Mk1 it was around 7kg

I do not know if it is more or less in a Mk3 .. so will stick with 7kg

Some believe approx only 300 Mk1 GTis were imported over 3 years by Ateco and others say closer to 500 - in addition with Mayfair here in Qld the number was believed to have been around 200 over 3 years (but others say the number was less) so there is no real idea. There are many different numbers out there and nobody can confirm any of them, you also had Mayfair Suzuki in Qld bringing in their own Mk1 GTis.

That is nice work, and it appears you have retained the original Mk1 front mounting point ... and possibly even have a a/c .. but the turbo and exhaust would not fit within the front area with the grill on etc would need some mods ( I had to do a bit for mine with a much closer fabrication. Sad to see her pulled apart but that cancer is terminal unless you are super committed to keeping these things alive. well more is stripped, only have the underneath and suspension to go. We found quite a bit of 'cancer' bog and cracks throughout the body and chassis. The decision to scrap is a better option as I am glad we have not continued to have this on the road as this would have been a death trap in an accid...

An update

I have finally gotten most of my health back, damn septicaemia.

With my son, have pulled engine out ( this is I'll have the better cams put in an then motor donated to my black car)

Most of the rest is being stripped and once most done, body to go to wreckers.

Sounds like you're having a good time. How's the 3 pot turbo feel compared to the 1300? Maybe load up a few suitcases and bring some back???? :lol: I have to admit the 3 pot turbo is better overall ... agggghh .. At the top end they are similar ... but the initial acceleration is better with the T3...
