As far as stiffening goes, I think Blake has the goods. I recall a post that showed the baseplate that fit between the sump and the block. Must have been 10-15 mm thick

I found some dxf drawings I scored from somewhere. Converted them to jpg

Hmm, After I changed the tie rods out to adjustables with solid rose joints, I got heinous thumps. Its the top mounts.... Mine looked fine as well..

If you say the GTi shafts are too big for the hubs, then you do not have GTi hubs....

You need shafts to suit the hubs or gti hubs....

HAs it been wet around your way recently? my idle plays up when its damp. I suspect the leads or one lead at least. when the engine warms up (dries up), it idles fine.
