Re: Any good ecu people on here

Few probable causes come to mind. #1 (i have seen this happen twice now) Faulty distributor. both times the fault created what seemed to be a rpm limit. Replaced distributor and problem solved. #2 Valve float. The general consensus on valve float occurs between 4600-5400rpm. This is mainly where har...

Re: ECU chip or standalone on a 1300 NA high compression

Keep the balancer. Mk1 gti didnt have such a large/heavy balancer, but rpm limit was set at 6600rpm roughly compared to 7600 rpm on a mk2/3. Reducing the balancer dramatically will create more harmonic vibration. A street car you probably wouldn't notice but in a tack car sitting between 4500-8500rp...

I have a few of these available in stock.

Adaptronic e440d select. Gti plug and play ecu.
Comes with base map installed.

Plug it in. And turn the key.

You will require a final tune to adjust map to suit your setup.

Re: rev limiter cutting in at 4900rpm?

4900rpm is pretty high for a limp mode (fault)rev limit.

Do you have aftermarket cams?
I'd look into the valve springs. It sounds more like valve float at that rpm.

We push 9000 rpm on a G16b twincam. And 10,000rpm on a d16 forged crank G16b bottom
End and twincam head. Never once had a oil pump failure.

But. It's not to say it's impossible. Possibly harmonics could had played a part in the failure.
