Well I thought id start another build thread to keep everything in one place.. (im sure people are sick of me updating the "what did you do on your car" thread)

This thing Is getting pretty close to being able to start and go get tuned, has been a ridiculously long process, I didn't help this cause as ive had a few other projects come and go...
And im doing all but everything myself.. Its still a fair way off being 100% but ill be stoked just to get it running

Im just going to Dump a heap of photos and may make up a spec list at some point and put in this first post (this may take a while)

Im not going to go too much into the history of this, but before I decided to do the conversion the GTi was sporting a cammed cultus motor and some suspension work

Not long after this pic I got the m18a from Dave (ItsUitsMe) and installed it..
It sat around for quite a while as I got involved with 4wds and went a bit over the top modifying with a couple of cars... Now they have been sold on and i am in a better financial position I can continue with this

1993 GTi
M18a
M18a G/box with J18 VSS
Adaptronic E420d
ITBS (custom adaptor, R32 throttles)
Unifilter socks
Delco IAT
Yamaha R1 TPS
Aftermarket industries 3.6L surge tank
Holley blue lift pump
Bosch 044
2 X speedflow filters
Alloy hardline
JAZ fuel cell
Custom 4-1 headers
2.5" stainless exhaust (with side exit  )
That’s it for the motor (for now)
Race technologies 2 pro dash
Innovate MTXL wideband
Push button start
New wiring throughout with bulkhead connector
S13 strut tops up front
Coilovers with koni inserts
Harris motorsport tops in the back
Progressive rate springs in the rear
Koni rear shocks
Superpro poly bushes everywhere
Whiteline 20mm rear sway bar
Wilwood calipers
282mm slotted rotors
Honda wheel studs
Sparco EVO 2
Mocal 13 row oil cooler
ASE oil filter relocation adapter
Speedflow everything
Deatschwerks 565cc injectors
Works Engineering fuel rail

May be some stuff i forgot will edit as i remember :?

I was tossing up wether to go turbo or N/A with this but after hearing some peoples troubles with the turbo M series motors I decided N/A... Plus you cant really beat that sound

I had got into contact with CPC and he designed and cnc machined out an adaptor plate to fit a set of R32 GTR throttle bodies to them and also knocked up a set of trumpets

Fuel system is pretty overkill for now, built for E85 and power in mind down the track

The last couple of months I have been tackling the wiring. To some people im sure they can knock this sort of stuff over in a week or two..
Previous to this I struggled wiring in a bloody car stereo, not to mention im colour blind as anything!!
Now I know a thing or two more about auto electrical stuff through research, a Hp academy course and ellpee (this bloke is a legend!!)
He has helped me immensely!

I got given the battery from a bloke at work.. He replaced the one in his ducati 1098 as he thought that was his problem.. turns out it was elsewhere

Machined up a cable wheel (that hasn't been drilled to suit cable yet).. and a TPS adaptor
The one thing I have had trouble with these throttle bodies as they are a mix mash of parts was a return spring... Ive sort of just avoided the problem and carried on with other things hoping id come up with a simple solution at a later date.. well it took longer than it should have to dawn on me that I could use a similar set up to the original R32 throttles..

After some mucking around and a miss drilled hole... perfect!

f**k it.

I'm going to jump right in. :P

What gearbox are you using and more importantly, what gear ratios? Close ratio M set? Or stock?

And what purpose? Is your car for racing or is it for street?

Cheers,

Drew

G/box is standard liana unit at the moment with a modified J18 speed sensor for the ECU..The plan is to get it running and tuned with this G/box and then put a m sport CR gear set and LSD in it...

Car is purely track.. Haven't built for any specific class or competition just to go out and some serious fun!

Cool!

Care to share any planned upgrades to your suspension? Braces? Camber? Castor? Poly?

Is there much of a weight difference between M18a and G13B?

Cheers,

Drew

I have poly bushes through out already, ive got harris motorsport camber tops in the back, s13 ones in the front, coilovers, i have dropped the shock "insert" through the coilover housing and machined up a big "washer" to hold onto it, machined up new "collets" to go between top of coil over and strut top..
Havent touched toe arms as yet..
I have a few plans for later on but wont post anything about it until i get around to them....

Haha i needed some stuff in one spot!
Will organise a day once its running.. im sure there would be a few people interested in attending

Should also thank Moylee he has been supplying a few parts to me over the last couple of months..
Today i got 8 x 1/16" NPT to 1/4 hose fittings for my MAP sensor and 2 X -10 weld ons for my rocker cover..

I should have my exhaust flange back from the water cutters this week so i can get on with the headers
