So, this is my little project that has been going on since december last year..

I started with this 1995 swift GTi..

Image

Image

Image

It has seen better days..

Image

Nice stock interior though

Image

Image

Some meters and stuff.

Image

The engine bay (yes it's a turbo):

Image

Together with the other old girl:

Image

All nice.. but not exactly what I want.. because it's gonna be my time attack/trackday car..

So first things first.. I ditched everything I could.

Image

Image

Image

cleaned up the engine-bay a bit..

Image

and started buying a few bits and pieces..

Image

Image

Image

The old clutch wasn't that good anymore..

Image

Image

and the gearbox was dead aswell..

Image

Image

Image

So we threw in the new ACT-clutch and a new(stock) gearbox.

Image

And she finally drove for the first time since i bought her..

then it was time to look at the bodywork..

first we weighed the car..

Image

Then we had to strip the front to see what we were working with, and fit new panels....

Image

Image

Image

and we found quite a lot of rust..

left front:

Image

right front:

Image

all down to the bottom of the interior..

Image

Image

but we found a great welder to fix it for us..

Image

Image

Then we had to fix the wiring loom, because the alarm-system and standalone ecu were installed kinda messy and not how and where i wanted it to be.
We even ended up removing the alarm-system alltogether.

Image

Image

and we went from from..

Image

to..

Image

Then the bodywork went back on, still not entirely the way i want it.. but it will do for now

Image

Image

Image

Then the last preparations needed to be done for the first Time-attack event..

Catchtank:

Image

Other camcover MK2 instead of mk3.

Image

Half cage was welded in.

Image

Seat and 6-point harness mounted(finally)

Image

Image

Door panels fabricated

Image

Family picture was taken (all 3 are mine)

Image

Then it was time-attack time.

At the paddock we found out the waterpump wass leaking, but decided to go for it anyhow..

Image

so.. time to get stickered up, get trough inspection and briefing.. and hit the track..

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Ended up 10th of my class, and 6th in the finale good for a sixth place in points..

Nice.
I do love a wide body. And the bonnet looks better on a wideboy than on standard arches.
Quite Mk1 Golf really

Thanks.

My car is built this way because its functional and different, and we like to experiment a bit.
I have another time attack round next week so will have some on-track pictures.

I just have to say your car looks AWESOME! While the wheels aren't my favourite, the body kit and styling are great! =D>

I have universal fender flares all round. Pop-riveted to the body.
Front bumper is Fibersport, rear spoiler is custom made.

Thanks man!

I'm going back to N/A for now.. got tired of the turbo-related issues like blowing up turbos and heat problems.
I also think my driving wont progress before I learn to drive on the absolute max before stepping to more power.
Also i should benefit from chassis/drivetrain mods..

Fair enough man, it's always more fun to drive a slow car fast than a fast car slow. In other words you may as well drive something at its fullest instead of not being able to use something to its max. Very very keen to see how it'll look with those steelies!

Well, after some issues with starting, the swift finally runs and is road legal.
Time to finally make it look pretty, this function over form thing has taken long enough now.

The look before it went into the garage
Image

Stripped the whole thing..
Image

Finally painted the cage and interior properly, so that wont rust anymore..
Image

And started sanding...
Image

also started working on my carbonfibre bonnet, hopefully it will be finished soon so i can show it off.

Thanks! I think the CF hood will come out very nice..the first one of many pieces.
Its a same there is almost no market for Suzuki stuff over here, would like to make carbon roofpanels etc. but its too expensive to produce molds for a single item

We're using the same mold for the bonnet as we used for the fibreglass piece though so wont be that hard.

Cheers mate!

Ive begun putting the car together again today. It looks really great, even for only being in primer.
Tomorrow we're back at it, only need to spray the bumpers and put more parts on.
