Hi Guys,

I'm looking at buying an Iggy sport to daily (well it's on a shortlist) and was wondering if there is a list of things I should be looking for with these? I've done a little research and I know the usual used car things to tick off so I'm looking for anything Iggy specific I should watch for?

Cheers

It's mainly the normal things you'd look for on a used car. If serviced well they're reliable so service history. Though they are not particularly prone overheating the fact it has a warning light instead of a gauge is a weakness, so look for overheating and things that could point to head gasket issues.

There is quite a bit of info on the uk forum if you look around

My head gasket went. I saw the engine light come on but it was too late, damage done. Had to replace engine. Look for signs of chemweld. If you open the oil cap you should be able to smell it. Also check gears change smoothly and clutch engages. Mine has always had a few moments before it kicks over, but make sure it starts cleanly without and coughing or splutter.

Check it doesn't bottom out going over a bump the suspension should be firm not floaty. Also my aircon pump went because bearing failed, at idle you may notice an intermittent large throttle increase followed by almost a splitter with a grinding sound. That's the bearing going which could be expensive fix if you need aircon.
