Anyone got any knowledge of or owned a mid-90s Civic VTi-R? 118Kw from a NA 1.6 is pretty amazing.. but how strong are the motors? As bullet-proof as the G13B? What goes wrong on them?

Any tips on owning one of these or what to look for when buying one?

If its the B16 its a pretty strong motor. Plenty of tuning parts available especially from the US.

And they are at the lighter end of the Honda engines.

I also think when i was looking a putting one in the swift the weight is off set nicely for right hand drive.

Glad to hear it's a strong motor.. anyone got any comments or opinions on the rest of the car?

I'll confess - I've bought one sight unseen from an auction site. 300,000 kms, auction house reckons it runs and drives well  Looks in pretty good unmolested condition. They seem to retain their value very well (even with high kms) so I've either got a bargain or a bomb. Am picking it up on Saturday..

From what I know they are fairly solid cars, not cheap if you break them, but reliable if looked after. I have friends who have had a few Honda's with over 300 on the clock with very little dramas. Hopefully it's a gem for you :)
