Haven't got any actual samples (other than sx4 5mt awd)
But it appears that sx4 6mt and kizashi 6mt, may in fact use a 12 bolt diff
So I've got a new puzzle, I'm speculating that a ZC32s LSD could be adapted if I use appropriate bearings/shims and custom made ring gear (same outter tooth count as sx4 for example, but inner bolt pattern tailored to the ZC32s LSD.
It certainly explains why there aren't drop in LSD options for kizashi/sx4
(That and the fact they're not currently recognised as tuner platforms)

Bewitched-I have just bought a 2013 swift sport and should have it in my shop in a couple of weeks ,so then I can progress with looking at the six speed and what is needed to make it fit up to a g13b.
I will have a look at work today but have a feeling the 4wd g13/16 boxes also have the ten bolt diff, it may then be an easier task to machine down the extended passenger side of the diff and make it same dimensions as your kizashi diff.

Excellent Dave :D
My partner takes delivery of her 2012 kizashi today, so a solution of it (Lsd wise) is eagerly anticipated
(And it's going to be a few weeks til I get a spare kizashi box to continue my research
Please provide internal photo of your box with gear set =D>

Why wait for the spare, just rip the misses box apart.

After a quick search, you're right dave, awd g boxes were 10 bolt diff :-k

So you see in your pic above of the 4wd diff,if you machine down the section that the taper bearing is sitting on so that it sits right next to the speedo drive (taking measurements from your kizashi diff)You should be able to turn a 4wd lsd into one to suit the kizashi.
I am guessing monster sport would also sell a kizashi lsd or a least a lsd for the six speed sport box.

From schematics I pulled at work, Kizashi might in fact have a 12 bolt diff.
The awd cultus lsd could work in sx4 (modded as you've suggested) and I suspect that the LSD in the 6mt swift sport is also a 10 bolt diff, so the zc32s LSD could help in my sx4 box (which needs modding to accept an SF413 speedo)
So we're making progress, I'll know for sure about kizashi when I aquire the spare box.
This weekend I'll see what part numbers cross reference on the diffs and get diagrams of Zc32s diff and Kizashi diff and see what that brings up.
I wonder if M factory would be able to make 10 and 12 bolt LSD using their current Zc31s forging blanks.
The puzzle continues

any thoughts on whether i could squeeze a big frame box into the MK1 (understandably i would need to fab mounts)

You can definitely fit the g16/sport hybrid box into a mk1, its been done several times now,the lh chassis rail will need either notching slightly or if your feeling rough you can attack it with a hammer enough to get clearance.Making a mount off the chassis rail at the front of the box is pretty straightforward.
The M16 six speed box is supposed to be quite large in comparison so I dont think thats an option.

Thanks Dave.

Sounds like i will start hunting down some bits.

Do you think it would be possible to cradle the box in the same way as the MK1? While id rather hang it from the rail i would need to stay compliant with rally regulations.

Is everyone in agreement that the best bang for bucks is a hybrid box with the mfactory cogs in it?

Bang for buck, yea I'd say so.
If you wanted to take it further, SQS Racing do straight cut gear sets w/dog clutch for Zc31s
http://www.sqsracing.com/
I'd think it would hold up better than their mk2 gear set :-k

I'd agree that a dog box would be awesome they typically need more maintenance (read $$$$).

Has anybody in Australia fitted the mfactory cogs and can comment on the experience?

I have got a M factory 4.8 CWP in my turbo race car box with m16 sport ratios, works very well.As a M factory dealer i have also supplied a rally guy in australia, a M factory close ratio M16 gearset and all necs parts to convert his 4wd box, havnt had any feedback from him.
The M factory gearsets are well made and very good value for money compared with most other gearsets.

Might you then enquire if they could make the 12 bolt lsd Dave?
Did my research today and Sx4 6mt is the same box as used in kizashi, with a 12 bolt diff.
ZC32s swift sport 6mt is 10 bolt diff, so that matches the Sx4 5mt I'm currently prepping :)

Bump: it's been a few years
Six speeds can now be had for about a grand..
Zc21s (M15 swift) gear sets can be interchanged with m18 liana
Also can be interchanged with ZC31s (swift sport) so plenty of options in 2wd large frame gearset
Still no progress on 6 speed developments.
But the latest commentary is interchanging selector linkages from swift sport onto G16 boxes
And thanks to the current swift (model code Azh414) fitting cables isn't a matter of butchering firewall near rear engine mount.

For reference, here's a few shifter setups I've put aside at work (suitable for grafting)
Liana 1.8
AZH 1.4
Zc21 1.5

Great work man! Having made the switch to the Swift Sport shifter and cables on my AWD Cultus box and hit a few snags (to say the least!) I'm keen to see what you come up with!
