hi mate ,thinking of getting a 1600 oil pump for the gti1300 , heard its fits . what was that on? what went wrong and is it a common problem?

Unless you are running a turbo or other setup that requires more oil, there is no need for the 1600 pump unless the 1300 one breaks and that is all you can find.

Oil pumps breaking are not a common issue. Note that 8500rpm is not common either.

We push 9000 rpm on a G16b twincam. And 10,000rpm on a d16 forged crank G16b bottom
End and twincam head. Never once had a oil pump failure.

But. It's not to say it's impossible. Possibly harmonics could had played a part in the failure.

I've worked in wreckers for many years, that breakage in your oil pump is the first I've seen, must been a freak accident/failure.
A G16 oil pump on a G13 isn't a bad investment, extra volume circulating
