As you'd probably all be aware, the Swift history article on this website is horribly out of date and contains some incorrect information.
I'm currently in the process of rewriting this article to add information about the new Swift, fix up the mistakes, and include more detail where possible.

As part of this process I have created an Australian Swift timeline, showing when each model was released and how long it was available. Before this goes into the updated history article, I thought I should share it with the community so any corrections or additions can be made.

Make sure you click on the image to see it at full size!

Notes:

I realise that there will be some argument about whether the MK2/MK3 transition was 91 or 92, but from what I have seen 92 seems to be the most common MK3 starting point.

The Swift "Beat" will also be added. ;)

Looks awesome

With the 4 door seda you have only put in the GLX 1.6 (and AWD) what about the Swift 1.3 4 door sedan series?

Look closer, it is above the SF416 because even though it is a sedan it is an SF413. ;)

I had actually included the Barina in the original diagram but removed it because it became really bloody confusing! It will be explained in the article itself though.

Linking to relevant information from each part of the diagram is possible - in fact I might end up turning the whole thing into a little flash-based applet if I have the spare time.

As the title suggests this is a history of Swifts in Australia. If I included the Ignis then I'd have to include Baleno, SX4, and every other model in the range. I want to keep this as simple as possible.

Looks bloody awesome, you should definitely approach Suzi with it when finished and maybe they might do a promo day or something for the Swift with lot's of Swift owners and cars along!

How about the new Swift Beat limited edition?

cheers!

If it helps my last Gti was a 9 month 91 factory mk3. But of research I found out there was an overlap period of about 3 months when both mk2 and mk3 were still been made at the same time!

That's a great piece of info, I might see if I can reflect it on the diagram. If not then I'll include it in the article itself.

This ws the first thing I noticed as well, and would of posted this is Neo didn't already.
Maybe an astrix next to the GL and make a note of the line being a sedan at the bottom? Do you think the Mystic... Majestic, what's it called? sedan would fit into this profile?

Great work though!

Why put an asterisk next to it?

Look over to the left where the bar starts, it is clearly under '4 Door Sedan'

Never heard of such a thing! :| The only LE sedan model I know of is the 70th Anniversary Edition, which I have neglected to include because I couldn't find any concrete info on when it was available.

Yep I see it now, its a little off putting that is the only listing that is above the bold heading.

Brayden, this model definitely exists, it was the standard GL sedan with different seat trim and badges, may have even included other extras but I don't remember. It was very feminine, with the badges being in big swirly letters and brightly coloured trims.

It definitely exists... and is called the Suzuki Swift 'Mystique' Sedan. I personally saw one driving around Perth only a week or two ago! I think they were around 1993... (?)

EDIT: A quick google search confirms that one is for sale in Perth at the monent! Maybe a local edition similar to the Fiorelli, Black Magic, Stealth etc...?

Must have been a Perth-dealer option, because it doesn't show up on Redbook or any brochures I have ever seen!
