I'm saddened to here another swift has past, but the question stands will it be reborn?
I hope your son is ok and it's just learning curve for him.

Thank you for all your concerns

son has a broken metacarpal (hand bone) broken toe some seatbelt bruising otherwise ok

Amazing for a car that is this old and a guy that is 6'5" and 140kg and he got away quite well

Have to work out what the insurance is going to do - if we can get the wreck back or it will turn up in the wreck auctions - but it is definitely a write off

Snappin' duckshit that's a big shunt. Glad to hear your son is (relatively) okay.

Glad to hear that Jefferson came out of it relatively OK - hope he recovers quickly.

Looking at the pics, he was pretty lucky that it wasn't a lot worse.

While it's unfortunate that the AWD copped it so hard, at the end of the day it's only metal and rubber.

Thank you charcoal and [YLD80Y] for your responses.

This has been my son's first & most favourite car and he has done a lot in it - from way back in the old days and the Canberra Cruises to many skid and sprint days.

For the history buffs - this was Garndi's car before we got it ...

jeff goes into surgery today to have his hand pinned as the metacrpal is badly damaged and the fracture is concerning the specialists.

Finally an update

The car is a write-off, (whick you can guess from photos) the biggest issue was the gearbox is seriously damaged as it took the full brunt. My son made the decision not to get the wreck back as it was going to be too costly for him (organising a tow, etc)

I believe the car will come up for auction fairly soon within the wrecks that Suncorp sell regularly

sorry for those interested in obtaining the wreck, but son is still disabled with hand damage and will be for sometime.
