got this cheap stainless turbo manifold on eBay. anybody had problems with it? checking out forums ,utube and they don't recommend due to welding slag coming away and going into turbo .checked it out seems to be cleaned up inside the pipes .did find the flanges where warped so i had them faced.

If it's the same ones I'm thinking of then the badly warped flanges is the main problem.

so redid the dialing in of the cams again . used a digital indicator with 25mm range and a better setup aligning the angle with the lifters .also used the the alloy bottom pulley as a spacer for the dial.very impressed very the accuracy of the cat cams 10.00mm inlet ,9.00mm exhaust

can anyone tell me if it matters to run the air flow sensor on the pressure or the non pressure side of the turbo?

Yes it does make a difference, and also depends on whether you're running an atmo BOV.

ok thanks, i was told to have the afm on the non pressure side of the turbo and if i run a plumbed in bov to direct it back towards the turbo,so it doesn't interfere with the afm readings.does that sound right?

The favored option is putting the MAF on the pressure side, with no BOV. What you need to avoid is having air metered while the throttle plate is closed, which can cause bogging, throttle lag and stalling.

Spot on.. I basicly always advise running the MAF in the factory location on the pressured section.. as the MAF Readings spike in air flow trigger the timing to start retarding and the fuel injectors to pump more fuel

You can still run a bov but run it before the afm(assuming you run the afm in its normal location as suggested),I found running it near the exit of the intercooler as far away from the maf as possible worked well

so you still run the maf on the pressure side near the throttle body ?and the bov near the turbo

Without wanting to speak for Dave what I would say is that we are a sharing community generally and there are some people with fantastic experience in these cars. Not much that hasn't been tried. Am watching the build too and great to see people still bringing these cars back to life.

thanks flying grape ,I'm enjoying my build and happy for the feedback, good or bad .building from eBay parts ,[pipe ,bends flanges, cat, resinator etc] a 2.5 inch stainless steel exhaust ,spot weld in position then get everlast exhaust to finish the weld.wish i had a car hoist ,hard work getting in and out from underneath the car to fit each part in position. on some of joins I'm using v clamp flanges so i can rotate into position where i want
