get yourself a good quality spot weld drill bit. otherwise your going to be repairing the metal before welding and those shapes will make grinding a bi**h.
Good luck, pretty straight forward fix, ask if you need help!

If you are going to put those wheels on again you really need to put longer studs in as you can see how little thread holds them on. Steel wheels allow the nut to extend in further. 2 Cents

And I now have hub caps for it. I almost have everything I need to piece it back together now.

So I scored a few days off work this week. Decided to get re-motivated with the swift and dropped the old motor. Replacement motor and gearbox ready to go in..just need to organise myself a engine hoist.

Edit: doesn't seem to let me upload photos

Good to see you are back at it! I'm not far of getting back into mine (updates later) but to answer your post about pics are you uploading from a phone/tablet? If so make sure the pics aren't too big. To get around this I message the pics to myself in messenger then save them to the device to upload here. They keep a good size but the file size is minimal so they upload easily :) Hope that helps and good luck with the build!

Thanks for that. Good advise...sent them to myself and it seems to work. Must have been too big.

Dropped the replacement motor and gearbox in today.
Tried and tried and tried but couldn't get the bolt through the rear engine mount. Any helpful hints?

Nice work mate, glad the photo tip worked too.

The rear mount can be a real pain to line up. What I do is get a long flat head screw driver and run it through, then use the jack to adjust the angle and height of the engine to get it lined up properly. Once the screw driver is all the way through you know that you are within a few mm of the right setup and can get the bolt in fairly easily with the jack holding it's position.

Hope that helps.

All sorted..I managed to get the bugger this morning. One drive shaft down, one to go.
Then I need to work out which connector goes where and change the oils and filters and I should be good to go.
That's how I want it to go anyway.

And it's now running. Rough as guts and the radiator leaks like a sieve...but it's running
