So there hasn't been a great deal of progress on the GTi since I've got it back from JEM.
The throttle bodies have to come back off as previously mentioned they do not seal properly so they are getting sent to efihardware in Victoria to get re machined and new throttle plates fitted..

I've finished the bender and finally made a bench to work in instead of the bloody ground, so once this busy period of work and social life is over I'll be getting right back into it!

Thanks mate.
Yeah sort of, Pro tools usa have some plans on the net if you google "HMP200 bender plans"

That's all I did and modified the drawings of the side plates to suit my needs really. I had to lower all dimensions by roughly 100mm (I think) to suit the ram that I got.
The rest I just winged it, machined up a bush to go in the die, roller for the follower, a few pins, spacers and some welding.....Wallah

I think speedwerx (Australian version of pro tools bender) charge like $900 for them, I made this for less than $100, most of the materials used I found in the scrap bin at work...

On a GTi note, ive started to modify steering column to fit the ignis power steer, ill post some pics when its done...

Southy just perving at this pic, have you thought about an air intake at the back of the bonnet
before the wipers? then you can even lengthen the velocity stacks if need be or at least make a
nice plenum that catches the air outside the cabin rushing over the bonnet.

eg. offset position though

Haha yeah, I've spotted a few pics in some random places..

d.
As for the bonnet scoop, I don't like the look of most an especially having to offset them would make the matter worse.
I have a few ideas up my sleeve for when the time comes..

yep fair enough but doesnt need offsetting if you use your own offset opening on a plenum so scoop can be centralised. Thats using a flat long falcoon or commonwhore air filter or similar cheap flat filter element

Well long time between posts.

So after a while chasing my tail with problems with the bender, I finally have them sorted! I was originally using a 6T ram that was not quite up to the task, that and had to machine a new top bush to spread the load on the top pivot pin, once that was sorted I borrowed a 10T enerpac set up and wallah she bends like a charm..
So now I can start the cage at some point.

The throttles are off and in VIC at efi hardware getting some love, hopefully they come back working like they should.. Will post more on this when I get them back..

Ignis power steer is in the car, not operational at the moment as the car is in bits again.

Fitted a set of R888's to the rims and fitted some rings into the rear spacers as they were from a Silvia and not the same hub size..

Re doing the fuel system, I'm getting a smaller fuel tank made and it's all going in a sheet steel box "sunk" into the floor where the poly tank is now.. Hopefully it will be a whole lot neater and all enclosed when it's done..

A lot happening with not much to show..

Also chucked a photo in there of the drill press I picked up, adding to the collection of vintage machinery.. When stuff was made to last!!

Well I finally got the throttles back, originally I thought they had to be machined as the butterflies did not look concentric in the bores when held up to the light, according to EFI hardware 3 of the 4 butterflies were in backwards and there was no "throttle coat" left in the bores. The throttle coat I wasn't aware of as I didn't think throttle bodies needed painting for them to seal.. How I was wrong, they have been re installed with genuine Nissan gaskets, waiting on a few other things to be done before I start and see if everything is good with them.. [-o<

I have also fitted a magna flow muffler whilst everything has been apart, hopefully that will stop a bit of the noise from the side pipe..

Started on the cage after ruining a heap of material haha.
I ended up getting some instructions for a similar style bender, once I read that and knew where I was heading with it there was no stopping me, I've bent up the main hoop and marked out the front legs but unfortunately ran out of time for the weekend..

There's a few more things in the works but will wait to update on them when it's all done..

I'm sure use can work out the picture dump..

Don't mind the haggard welds on the left.. Was difficult with the cars steel...

Well I've recently done some damage to my knee (Ruptured ACl, and torn nearly every other ligament in there)
The up side to this is I'm able to hobble around the shed to get stuff done whilst I'm off work, as difficult as it is sometimes, progress is progress!

Speedwerxs notcher turned up as well as a 1 1/2" die, rally wiz p/steer controller.

I've also knocked up some new seat mounts, just need to machine up some bushes to fill the holes and TIG them in.
