The block went through some SRS testing at Cave Hill Engines.

Having multiple shops to work on this block can create issues; the balance needed is the insurance that both craftsmen trust each others work. Stu at Cave Hill being a perfectionist; let nothing slide.

Initial concerns were put on the way side; as this creation passed everything thrown at it.

As ACL bearings were/still are under a bit of a grey cloud; i got in contact with Brad at Calico Coatings; not only are their coatings second to none, the have a vast collection of Mahle; Clevite and ACL bearings in their warehouse.

Choice was to run with Clevite bearings; as the last engine ran flawless (until it didn't run at all) with Clevite bearings. so why change!

Part numbers for those interested.

Main Bearing Set: MS-1779A .25MM

Conrod Bearing Set: CB-1401A .25MM

Thrust Washers: TW-455S

These were all CT-1 dry film coated.

PPM have helped out throughout the build; not only providing the quality Superfinishing on the crank; but coating of all internals for the build.

Well worth the effort; well worth the investment.

Boring and honing was then completed.

A hiccup here was ordering 74.5mm pistons, With Cave Hill taking the cylinders out to 74.5mm they still were not true. only solution was to continue taking out the cylinder until this was corrected.

The ability to wait 90 days (required lead time for more pistons to arrive from overseas) the feelers were put out to source a purpose made set from scratch; this is required as the PPM rods are not factory length.

Special Piston Services in Victoria done an absolutely outstanding job; a 7 day turn around on a custom set of pistons to meet requirements.

Trial assembly had raised some issues which were quickly rectified.
The longer rod contacted the side of the cylinder; which required some massaging, rods also connected with the single piece crank brace and caps.

Assembly started August 21 2016

Considering when the motor started 1/2 its journey it was May 2015 it has certainly been a journey thus far.

Engine wise; this was the light appearing at the end of the tunnel. Being the far end of August; most if not all teams for WTAC were already out on track and smashing out laps of Circuits around Australia.

Seeing it come together; is an emotional experience.

The last 12 odd months have been cheap :^o

There was some rework involved (switching from a Worthy girdle to a single piece, changing pistons, and about 100 other things that crept up.) These were the time killers and the pocket emptier it seemed.

Always remained positive as this is truly a work of art; obviously Luke's is a step further with AWD conversion, and even crazier turbo and manifold set up. He also isnt building sticking to the limited club sprint rules; so expect to see a lot more from him! he is one crazy f&%ker!!
Each one of the 3 will be very unique as there are built so different to each other.

Hatch attack.... i'm in, no question about it =D>
