When I first got it the head was making some awful tapping.
Changed the oil and it reduced the tapping but it was still noticeable.
Started her the next day and she is quiet now.

Can't believe how well it runs.
It hasn't been started for 2 years!!
It kicks straight away without fail and idles perfectly.
Took her for a drive and she still has good power.

Seriously shocked at how fast this thing pulls. Me, in a baleno with minor mods, and you with 2 grown men and a GTi that's seen better days, and you still pull away with me giving it everything I have.

Almost got me wanting one, almost. But makes me want power even more.

Baleno seats fitted :-)
Perfect idea for tall people.
The baleno seats are deeper and you gain 80mm more seating room.

I had to reuse the mk1 rails as the baleno ones were completely different.

Craig. while the engine bay is empty...make sure you take 10 - 15 mins to install a little plate to strengthen firewall where the clutch cable goes through! common places of weakness, esp with shitty clutch set ups and ive had to fab and fit a plate with the engine in (minus intake manifold) but man it would have been a million times easier with engine out haha. you should run an NPC brass button...with NPC lighten billet flywheel, puts less stress on the whole set up as well

Thanks Alexei. I am definitely getting a billet npc flywheel.
Wouldn't a brass button be a bit hard on the gearbox and body?
I was just considering a hd exedy.

I did get this ECU. Anyone know much about it?
I can't find anyone that has info on a POWER chip ECU.

good job :)

I have thought about 88 GT1, but just can't justify spending almost as much as the car is worth just for plates - it's the same issue when the rego renewal comes around every year

Great to see another Mk1 resurrected =D>

Thanks Charcoal.
This combo only set me back $465
