The MK1 GTi was not manufactured before 1 Jan 1986. Maybe he can get away with an engine change in an early model Swift and still be log book compliant with minimum weight??

Doesn't have to be logged as a GTi either, can just be logged as a swift.

The early model Non GTi suzuki swift had a beam rear axle with leaf springs

Given the major difference in body & chassis spec between a pre 86 suzuki swift & mk1 GTi you are going to have find a blind official to log book your GTi as early model Best of luck
Great redline article with all model descriptions

Honestly ....
Who cares.
Like I said I am not overly set on log booking it.
Can we please just focus on my build rather than what can and can't be done.

So the mk1 will be put on the road for a while.
Daily is gone . Was a good old ford laser.
Got road raged and a man in an old landcruiser hit my bumper on the motorway. He didn't want to pull over so if rammed me out of the way.

Im glad your young fella got it all on vid, it could have killed you both and should be charged with attempted murder no less, this is the law now when using a vehicle to cause great bodily harm, you could have lost control from that kind of hit. Its similar to what police do to make vehicles lose control.

Yeah crazy world hey.

When I said the young fella caught it on video, I was relating to a previous post regarding a young fella in another car caught it on his dash cam.

The part that made me really laugh was when he hit me I was spun backwards facing the wrong way.
Lady that was staring at my face just put her blinker on to go round me Haha.

My old road car was that bad or worse when I got it. It will clean up well. Take those rear inside trims off and That dent will push out with your foot.

Can't wait to see it progress. Is there any chance that you might change your mind and street it?

I would consider keeping it street if I get another mk 1.
Hopefully I can chase some money off the Bastard who destroyed my laser. That can pay for another. :-)

My all time favorite GTI a MK1 in white nothing beats it, cool in summer, easy to see in bad light, easy to maintain when retouching and very ligthweight. Wish there where more mk1,2 and 3 where avail in white.
