Under CAMS Improved Production rules a Mk1 with a g16b will have to weigh a minimum of 965kg

You will have to add probably at least 200kg or more of ballast just to make legal weight

no it won't, its Early model, no weight penalty for them with engine change.

Not sure yet.
My wife and I do it more for fun atm.
Once our 3 kids get older, getting it log booked may be on the cards.
But for now it would only see 4 or 5 sprint sessions a year.

hahaha Ive got a low km one for sale with a spare head for porting
Using the stock 78mm slugs he will be fine but 87mm bores grouted up
to the welsch plugs with SR20De sleeves puts him in the under 2ltr class,
the ports and valves are big enough! Fullly forged and full counterweight
crankshaft should spin a treat with 83mm stroke better than a G16b.
Supposedly the rallye M15a are making 230+ hp from Monster Sport site.

That is definitely what your little MK1 needs 1600GTI.

Seriously though, I'm hanging for more photos of the mk1. It looks like it has the identical dent in the RHR as mine.

and, the mark 1 was manufactured prior to 1 Jan 1986. Time of log book is irrelevant.

I was under the impression that the mk1 gti's started in mid to late 1986? And the Swift/Barina's in late 1984?
Does that mean you'd have to log book the car as a non gti?

In 1986, Suzuki released the performance oriented Swift GTi into the Australian market. Available only as a 3 door hatch with a 5 speed manual gearbox, the GTi featured the G13B engine, a 1.3 litre, double overhead cam, multipoint fuel injected motor, good for 74kw at the front wheels. Exterior styling boasted larger, lower front and rear bars, incorporating fog lights on the front. Side skirts were also fitted, as well as larger 13" wheels to round off the enhanced suspension package. Interior upgrades from other models included sports seating and steering wheel, and a tachometer incorporated into the instrument cluster, along with power mirrors. The SA was the smallest and lightest of all GTi Swifts.

The MK1 GTi was not manufactured before 1 Jan 1986. Maybe he can get away with an engine change in an early model Swift and still be log book compliant with minimum weight??
