Admittedly though, i do find it amusing the number of builds titled "slow build", all great projects take considerable time (despite what we tell our wives or supporting fans)
The hard part is stages of completion, ive got so many things on/ for this car that havent been finished (grail engine, increased braking system) but as i reach hurdles i tend to move onto next "toy" til i can make further headway with the areas of difficulty
 And then trying to backtrack to those parts even though they no longer seem entertaining to work on
Great builds are journeys, the visionary sees the stock car as a finished modifed product, but the build itself is a process that you live out far more than the dividend of a finished car
(How many cars get finished and then sold immediately after? If i build it i want to then drive it regularly and get my value out of it)
Anyhow thats my banter on it, i feel those are points that dont get stressed enough 8)

Haha good point! My quick build 9planned 3 months!) is nearing a year now and has changed from being "just a fun daily & occassional track car" to now being affectionately known as "The Monster" with the local GTi and drag racing guys who know it LOL.

Keep up the good work! I really love what you're doing! =D>

Yeah with nearly 180fwkw at last tune and a 3.5" muffler she roars and makes people scared just thinking about that kind of power in a FWD car! (makes me worried too but don't tell anyone!
Beast is good too. I always wanted custom plates for my Mk1 that read MENACE but someone else has them in Tassie

I'm with you guys on all that. I know the ideas I had before I bought mine have changed over time, and now it's more a case of the car evolving or growing of itself than me imposing some kind of ultimate ideal on it.

I think I'll leave it to you guys to go the full beast though, I have enough laughs getting mine back from visitors who've borrowed it as it is. ( I don't think I'd want to have to hose it out after loaning it. )

Look forward to seeing it progress further.

Overall, I'd planned out my Gti 10 years ago, but the developed package was all inter-related (so extensively planned) and it's taken me 3 shells and all these years to precipitate it to this point..
Wide body, bigger engine, wide rims, colour choice, it was all decided long ago (before it was all fashionable :? ) so fashion has caught up with me (wide wheels in bigger than 15" weren't commOnly available back when I wanted them)
Anyway, there was a grand scheme but things like lighter parts have been more recent additions
Hose it out hahaha, plates that say "cleaner" would be appropriate

Tasplates only allows 6 characters so it can't be fully done but I could go with MNGREL if I had a spare $1100 for the plats :P

Sorry for the thread Hijack  I'm keen to see these carbon wide bodypanels though

Heres an idea: just for fun, why not renew the licence on my car...and then disable it from driving for a few months while i rebuild it around the new wheels...
basically, with my work schedule i get sundays to work on the car...so progress is steady, but frustratingly sloooow
anyhow. logging an update

Cut reshape/extend skirt... consists of making splints and using bodyfiller to hold them in place, skimming the joints to hold it steady, then remove from car, back grind the rear of the cuts and refibreglass as one piece
Attachment:
File comment: Jimny front flare mould, something i whipped up to give me a guideline before bulging the panel to suit

these are the temporary covers to make it "driveable" which will then be trimmed\reprofiled into blister style after a complete wheel alignment

Gives me both a solid shape to get the arch curvature, and also makes the new flares appear factory styled once done

Attach, then back cut and feather into lines, also gives reference point for how much i need to widen my rear bar to bring it into line
wide guards mean that skirts\bumpers etc have to have extensions added to cover the extra girth

On other matters, had quite the search to find "blank" centrecaps for my wheels, even then had to ream the inner area to make them fit, probably the only set of xxr in Aus without the gaudy xxr caps... am getting suzuki S logos and attaching them for a factory racer appearance (finding modern S badges under 60mm size isn't as easy as you'd think)
And my Geo metro glovebox finally arrived, the USDM didnt all have the keylock like ours did (one of my old pet hates, cluttered and unnecesary weight  )
Bit of shoe vinyl paint and it ties in nicely with my classic black interior..

some 3 or 3.5 inch long black or chrome bullets wouldnt look bad instead of centre caps!
Then it will really look like a beast, you dont always need to tell people its a suzi ;)
These are valve caps but you get the idea

 im going for a Le Mans look rather than Deathrace
Proud to have the suzuki badge, locally GtiTripod's (fwd gti) dominates the Evo/Lotus/Skyline contingent of circuit racers, and NotSoSwift (Sport + turbo) took out top honours on the superkhana course yesterday =D>
Who wouldnt be dignified at steering a suzuki
