Just thought i would give an update on what i am trying to do (this week  )......

Some background on the conversion :

When I was in europe I found a 4x4 swift that i liked very very much (thanks Doug'y, aka ful sik)

I have been attempting to place the rear 4x4 floor pan in my GTi, after smashing my hand (many times), burning my lip 3 times with hot metal from the grinder & bleeding from many places due to other stupid misshaps I have finally been making some progress, so i though it time for some pic's............>

Started grinding, used many 9" & 5" disk's, the roof lining is now stuffed from the metal shower.....

The hard part was drilling out every spot weld (the drill bits went blunt every 5 holes  ), then hammering until my arm wanted to drop off, ***there was a lot of time & loss of blood in the below pic's***

The same was done with the 4x4 rear cut, every spot weld drilled & malleted out...

at this stage I need to clean any daggy bits & line up the floor pan for welding.

Thanks guy's.

Yeah, I gave it a 50/50% chance of ruining my car, its all looking like its going to happen now :-k , so i dont have to go out an buy another shell...

hopefully it will all pay off, with the +'s of traction on my side :D

As I dont ever want to pull the car apart again, lol, I will try give it a fresh coat of paint, the fun never stops........................

Good work Andy, stiching the new floorpan in is nowhere near as hard as the cutting grinding etc you have already gone through,so your hard work should all pay off!!.

Dont throw away those wheel wells Andy...(useful to raise shocks..like my car) heck, you make it look easy..I`m considering puttin a braced flatfloor under my black car and reregistering it =P~
Full credit on not stressin..you sweat for hours contemplating possible problems....cut it all out..stress about fixing it, and still worry when you double\triple check th end result to make sure it worked as planned

Viola!, it's that easy...looks awesome Andy, is the tailshaft in yet? or is the rear diff just bolted up?

Can't wait for you to bring it back to Canberra so we can drag it through engineering

Excellent to see some more progress :D
