Brand new Gripper LSD, setup for circuit racing, ramp angles are 40/65 with full competition plate stack and 70#/ft. preload.
This had been installed in a gearbox but never driven, has new bearings on it, couple of marks on the housing but I assure you it has never been used.

AU$1295, this includes shipping anywhere in NZ or Aus

Pm me.

I would just like to comment on Dattmans post.
The gripper lsd is by far the strongest plate type lsd I have seen for a gti,the plates are well made and have much stronger tangs compared with the suzukisport plate lsd.It also has two different ramp angles that you can use.It would be my choice of lsd if using the gti gearbox for competition work, very well made product, far superior to any other diff I have seen for a gti.

Thanks Dave

Bought it to run in my car but have had a couple of budget blowouts so need to sort those out first, I'm sure I'll regret selling it when I look for another one in 9 months time :(

Are you swapping one baby for another
If you are I predict the new one will be far noisier than the Gripper & still leave skid marks
You have made a young man in Australia very happy

=D> I guess I chose an unfortunate timeframe there  definitely no new kids on the way, twos enough.

One of the budget blowouts, exhaust system ended up about 1K more than I expected but I would rather get a professional to do it properly as it will be in the car for a long time, I hope I can find another diff in 6 or 9 months time when I am closer to actually racing the car.

I'll just push the car to the back of the garage for a while and over winter work on all the little things that need sorting and hope the war chest can recuperate.

That's embarrassing, you could eat your dinner of the bottom of your car. Get some dirt on it.

Will do in due course, sad that its taken twice as long to do a "rebuild" than it was to build the car in the first place, there was a number of things that I wanted to fix 2nd time around hence why its taken so long, also the grey should be easier to keep clean than the white I had before.

It's worth bearing in mind that you can still buy these new at http://gripperdifferentials.com/. They're currently 741 gbp exclusive of VAT so approximately 1295 aud for a new diff. You'd need to add in freight and GST but it'll be setup for your application. They also make a M16 diff for those with big frame boxes.

Yep, add in GST, freight and possible duty/customs fee if they inspect it and you can be looking at closer to $1500-$1600 plus theres two new bearings on my one.

Its still the diff of choice and I fully intend to get another one, hopefully I can hang onto it a bit longer than this one.

The person buying this will get to pay GST plus potentially duty so the only difference is the freight plus the value of two used bearings.

Anyone still wanting one should look at the new item.

Really helpful

New owner is not paying duty or gst and is getting new bearings with it, it's the standard tarmac spec setup.

Generally yes I don't suggest people buy used LSD's, learnt that lesson myself, $900 out of pocket due to Aleksander on this forum many years ago, only done 3 rallies apparently, Bacci diff was stuffed, required $1100 worth of parts, no refund and never heard from the guy again... however my Gripper has never been used and priced accordingly. I think after 12 active years on this forum people can trust me.

It's actually very helpful. If you're trading used parts between Australia and NZ and neither party is GST registered then you need to factor GST into the cost. It's often cheaper or close enough to buy new from a GST or VAT registered supplier who can export exclusive of tax. For the most part a non registered private individual can't claim back the GST or VAT when a used item is exported.

I agree with the second part, buying used LSD's is just plain dodgy. At least a gripper is easy enough to rebuild and can be bought on that basis.
