Had a really good weekends racing at round 2 of the ipra qld series at Queensland raceway ,last weekend.
Qualified 3rd outright(1st in 2000-3000cc class)on the clubman circuit.
Race 1 clubman 3rd outright
race 2 National 4th outright
race 3 clubman wet 4th outright
race 4 national 7th outright

Justin wade in his bmw m3 won all 4 races fairly comfortably, then bruce cook in his turbo 2litre duratec powered mk1 escort, Grimmo in a 500hp + v8 commodore and myself were all fairly evenly matched lap time wise and had some fairly close battles happening, my best race was the 4th race on the long track , on the start i had a couple of cars go past me but shook them off up the back straight and started to hunt down grimmos commodore,by lap 5 i was right on his tail and could catch and pull up alongside him under brakes and out of the corner but power down he would get away each time, so with three laps to go i cranked up the boost and was getting ready to try and outdrag him down the back straight but never got that far as the boost pressure blew off a intercooler pipe and i did the last three laps with no boost!!!, the very next lap grimmo lost rear brakes and I would of been able to pass him anyway!!!!.
Anyway I am very pleased that the reliability is there now with my car and it just about has enough power to keep up with the front runners.I also knocked off 2 secs from my pb on the national track ,doing a 1.21.6,and a 60.02 on the clubman
For the next round I am going to freshen up the motor and fit a slightly larger twin scroll turbo and see if i can mix it with the big boys a bit more, next round is back at morgan park in four weeks time.
I will link videos to this thread once edited.
p.s. congrats to Puss on boost (Ben, mk1 gti k20 na) who also had a good first ever race meeting shocking quite a few of his competitors in a mixed sedan race series.

Good work Dave - glad all went well (apart from the intercooler pipe) and good luck for the next round. I'll give you a call (probably tomorrow when I'm at home) about the Mk2 AFM.

Cheers Adrian

Well done Dave. Good to see you at the pointy end of the field.
