Looks good, any reason for a p/s mirror? Not really needed?

I took the yoshi mufflers off ,they were too restrictive, its now got a single 3" sprint car muffler, seems to work well, but not quite as bling!!!!!

The one that is on their now is like the best exhaust tip I've ever seen - there's no nonsense about it, but it doesn't look ugly either. It's just like "I'm here to do my job." Love it. I know the car is not for looks (though it does look awesome now too) - but black backed clear tail lights (as in, not smoked black) would go well with the rest of it. Awesome, I really hope this car comes to Newcastle.

On my old swift ,fitting a large splitter and rear wing made at least one full second quicker at Mt cotton. Im leading the series atm and my main oposition is bill Norman in his Gek sports car,he has already gone at least 2 secs under his own record but not at a series event so Im sure if he drives carefully he can pick up quite a few bonus points(for the series we get one bonus point every time a new class record is broken). This next hillclimb I will only run the new front with a rear airdam spoiler, which I hope will be enough to beat my record but not by too much!!,then later in the series I can fit the full underbody and hopefully that will get me more records again!!. Im pretty confident the full flat floor will make at least 1.5 secs at Mt cotton on the circuit slicks i currently use(with the use of the octopuss tyre softner),but if that isnt enough I have the option of buying some avon hillclimb slicks.

I was thinking this morn for some reason on the way to work about why you'd want the rear undertray slightly higher off the ground than the front .... obviously if it was lower at the back thats bad news indeed, lift is no good. nice, will see you out there. hope to see a vapour trail

its not about creating a lift, its about accelerating the air under the car in a smooth linear fashion. I think it should make a huge difference.

Once again, very nice work Dave. Interesting stuff that aluwell - had never heard of it before (off to Google it now).
The splitter makes the most difference, but underbody streamlining also makes a big difference to stability of FWD cars at speed (have found a marked difference once I clad the rear subframe on my mini in ally sheet).

Hi Dave, Tell us about the Octopus Grip tyre softener - does it make a noticeable difference?? I googled for it, not much info, saw this http://cars2.ebay.com.au/Octopus-Grip-T ... 0549713829 I had not heard of it, but you & also I think Garndi or Zuboo mentioned it recently too!

The Octopuss tyre softner has been developed over the past few years by a guy who runs a 750cc Kart at our hillclimb, his colleage is an industrial chemist and they have now perfected the formula. Most of the commercially available softners such as vp bite only have about 10% active ingrediant ,talking to him his product has over 50% active ingrediant, which is the chemical that smells like dencorub!!. I have found cleaning the tyre with a hot air gun and paint scraper remove all the debri/tyre pick up then while the tyre is still hot apply the octopuss grip softner, wrap the tyre in glad wrap, then the day before the event reapply and wrap again.Normally the first run on the tyres will be a little slippery(just like when you run on brand new slicks and the silicon they use as a release agent comes to the surface of the tyre)it only takes a short run to get down to the surface where the tyre has been softned. For those who cant afford new tyres every event or are running on older rubber the softner really works well.I use it on my 2nd hand michelin medium compound circuit slicks to make them soft enough to be effective at the hillclimbs. For anyone in Brisbane who wants to buy a bottle I will have some in stock in my workshop next week.

Yup it livened up my years old Avon slicks like new ! $30 is far easier on the wallet than $300 per tyre. I found I used about a 1/4 bottle for 4 x 15x8" slicks, and thats 2 coats over 2 days in the week prior to an event.
