OK, here is a word for those of you owning J18 engines. I just bought a Baleno with a J18 Manual. Gave it some love and cleaned under the bonnet.
The COPS stems had perished. The engine degreaser and water I used to clean, sucked into the stems creating an alternative earth path for the spark...The symptom was a rough idle with a stumble after idle until you got to decent rpm, where it sounded like it ran sweet.
It only took four hours of farting about checking each sensor and connector for water ingress but I got there in the end.
I believe you can purchase COPS stems individually from someone here on redline. I would totally recommend it. Easy fix, they just slip off with a bit of a turn and the news ones slide straight on the existing COPS units.

Coil On Plugs aka ignition coils / coil packs.

Back when I had my last GTX I found some cheap aftermarket coil packs, they worked well, but didn't fit under the engine cover.

Coil packs are the worst idea they put on the baleno.
I prefer the pre facelift models with the distributor setup.

GTX ignition is different to the 1600 system.
Suziauto have the rubber extensions for the GTX COP. There are 2 COP's - pre 2000 is a 2 wire coil and post 2000 is 3 wire so they don't swap. The rubber extension is the same for both coils.

Just expanding on Zedd's comment.
G16 Baleno COPS had wasted spark type setup (two coils firing two cylinders)
J18 Baleno COPS had a coil on each plug for each cylinder (four coils in total)
Just adding this detail for anyone not familiar with these engines

Lindsay, did you apply any Dielectric Grease to the plug grommets when you fitted coils to engine this time?
